Currently, the FSM, for the achievements and indicators, is considered a success story in higher education and scientific research university of modern Tunisia. Since its conception, three decades ago, its founders wanted to make a pole of scientific influence, decentralized, open to new technologies and scientific development of locomotive in the country. Built on the basis of a rigorous architec
tural design with Swiss funding a collaboration with the brotherly country of Iraq, the site is large, pleasant and well done. Since its opening during the academic year 1977-1978 several extensions have been made and in recent years, the WSF has been a nice facelift renovation and rejuvenation. Originally called Faculty of Science and Technology, the institution has trained generations of master degrees and engineers in various disciplines such as basic and applied mathematics, chemistry, physics, electronics, electrical engineering, energy and mechanics. The end of its first decade is the creation of the engineering school nearby ENIM and accurately in 1987 by separating the three engineering departments she had. Subsequently, by deploying an on-site training and Department of Biology, the WSF has served again as an incubator of the Institute of Biotechnology of Monastir was established in 2000 and certainly part of the Higher Institute of Informatics and Mathematics of Monastir (ISIM) established the same year. Rich in generations of graduates, technicians, masters graduates, engineers (7000), DEA (463), Doctors (120) and skills (33), the institution has contributed significantly to the development of scientific staff in the country. Currently, former FSM in their ranks a large canvas of academics working in institutions abroad or in Tunisia and especially in the new scientific institutions created in the universities of Monastir, Sousse, Gafsa, Gabes and Kairouan, without forget the military higher education. They bring their skills and experience to contribute to the development of higher education science and scientific research in the various regions of the country. The influence of the faculty also provided leadership at the University of Tunisia in his record which has three university presidents and no less than twenty directors and deans. In scientific research, the FSM participated in the development of activities in the various scientific priority of the country by training future leaders through training through research, developing equipment, facilities development and material characterization and providing a consistent scientific production continues. Currently all the departments have graduate courses open to top students of the country and affect various disciplines important to the future. In particular, the WSF was the precursor of training and research in microelectronics, material components and systems on chip and in the synthesis of chemicals and has been since the early 90's. The emergence of new themes in symbiosis with the vital and strategic needs of the country has always been the concern of the university community. At the WSF activities currently animate five laboratories, 18 research units and 6 USCR, in this case equivalent to no less than 500 full-time researchers. This research, conducted mainly at the national level, are open on recent developments and the state of international research. Public funding is thus greatly strengthened by international contracts also allow a continuous comparison of means, methods and research findings. Today, about 6,000 students and more than 300 teachers attending the WSF. The major project in which current educational focus teachers and the administration is that of the LMD reform this year will reach its third year. Six new channels and basic applied 3 were created
The introduction of new licenses is more complex in this setting that the number and variety of disciplines, backgrounds, actors are great. This course provides the student with better choices and experience of the reforms already lapped the 30 years and therefore a better chance of success of his training to lead to a job or continue in Master or PhD.
