Title : “Object-Oriented Cognitive complexity Metrics: An emerging area of research”

Abstract:

Thousands of metrics are available in literature to evaluate the different attributes of quality of software. However, the observations show that majority of metrics are not adopted by the practitioners. Cognitive complexity metrics based on cognitive weights are emerging and new area of research. Several metrics based on cognitive weights are proposed in last ten years. In this paper we have performed a critical review of all the existing recently proposed metrics which are intended to evaluate the different features of object orient languages. A comprehensive comparative analysis based on certain attributes is presented. Furthermore, all the metrics are evaluated against three major criteria: practical usefulness/acceptability, theoretical and empirical validation.

Title : “Intelligent Systems Paradigms”

Abstract:

We live in a complex world that is ever changing and filled with danger and contradiction. Yet computer scientist and engineers have been able to develop systems that incorporate artificial intelligent paradigms that help solve problems that even the cleverest of humans sometimes find difficult to comprehend. These systems have over a relatively short period of time become far more robust and economical than once thought possible.

The presentation will look at some of the underpinning developments that have enabled these systems to be produced and, maybe more interestingly, have a futuristic look at what might just be possible.

Title: “Biometrics: smart applications and challenges”
Abstract

Biometrics is known to be a discipline dealing with the extraction of physical or behavioural characteristics from human body. Technically speaking, due to the use of Digital data processing, Computer Science and Computer Engineering in IT systems; biometrics can be effectively applied in numerous fields, such as: security, healthcare, forensics, etc. After a general introduction, the first part of the talk will be devoted to the spoofing problem that is regarded as an attack to biometric systems, making them vulnerable. Within this context, hidden biometrics will be highlighted as a promising and challenging approach to ensure robust high-level identification systems. In the second part of the talk, we will be considering biometrics as a core of some smartsystems. From a specific point of view, we will be interested in aging and age estimation. In particular, we will be highlighting some computer vision smart-biometric applications, requiring 2D and 3D modelling.

Keywords: spoofing, hidden biometrics, smart biometrics, aging.
