DMUN 2021 conference kicks off today. Due to the pandemic restrictions, this year’s conference is fully virtual, conducted through Zoom. We’re excited to see the important and fierce discussions that our delegates will be having today and tomorrow, culminating in the writing of UN resolutions.

Meet the chairs of World Health Organization (WHO). This committee will be chaired by Natania Da Cruz Claver and Diva Belo.

Natania M. Da Cruz Claver, also known as Tatha, is a 20 years old girl, and a high school graduate from St. Paul College Pasig, Manila and will soon be studying for college at China.
Currently she is living life by socializing such as doing volunteers, community work , and joining trainings that are impactful.
She was also one of the delegate at DMUN in 2019 and had the most amazing diplomacy experienced ever , that is why she encouraged everyone to have fun while you are doing something that are giving positive impacts to your surroundings. For this year’s DMUN Natania wishes to see active participation from the delegates in expanding your knowledge about global issues and hope that it may contribute to solve the problems that the world currently facing.
And she hopes to enjoy and have fun with you all and creating a brand new experience together.

As for Diva, this will be her other role at DMUN this year, the other one being the Secretary General. Diva enjoys chairing especially during exciting, heated and challenging discussions. For the committee she hopes to be amazed by the delegates’ persuasion and debating skills.

Meet our chairs for United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP). This committee will be chaired by Dolores Moniz and Ricardo Valente Araujo.

Dolores has just graduated from the United World College Li Po Chun and will be studying in Trinity College, CT, USA this fall. Dolores is very obsessed with stars in the night sky. She hopes that DMUN 2021 will be a fantastic experience for young people to inspire them to become agents of change in their society. She also hopes that all the delegates could be actively engaged and perform their best as if they are the real diplomats from their representative countries.

Ricardo is currently studying in the University of Cambodia. A fun fact about him is that he would love to have lunch with Marsha P Johnson. Ricardo hopes that DMUN 2021 will have an active participation and a variety of perspectives from the delegates contributing in the discussions and eventually produce resolutions that are feasible, sustainable and impactful.

Meet our chairs for the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).
This committee will be chaired by Justo Freitas and Kenny Laysee Ndayiragije.

Something interesting about Justo is that he loves plants, and has written personal journals and quotes since he was 12.
When it comes to future carrier, Justo is still
figuring out who he wants to be. Yet, for now he thinks that Diplomat will be a fit career for him.
Justo would like to see a future leader born from DMUN. He expects all delegates to enjoy this experience, and make the most out of it. “As citizens of the world, we are interdependent! Hence, use this opportunity to practice your diplomatic skills, and try to see the world in the bigger picture.” Stated Justo.

Kenny wants to be a happy person who serves people around her. She wants to be more than just a leader or a successful/ well established one. She hopes to see young people full of ambition to bring up a movement of change in their communities. The type of young leaders who are happy and passionate about developing their states.

Meet our Deputy Secretary-General, Edilberto de Oliveira.

Edilberto is a freshman, currently studying Political Science at the University of Missouri - Columbia (Mizzou). Prior to attending University, Edilberto served as the president of a youth group based in Dili called Timor-Leste Youth for Peace. His experience in MUN includes being a delegate at the Dili Model United Nations Conference in 2017 and 2018 and being a co-chair of the Security Council Committee in 2019’s conference.

As the theme of this year’s conference is unique, Edilberto looks forward to engage with delegates and to create a space where they can discuss solutions to global issues.
