BRIEF HISTORY
Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Bible School and College started on June 9th, 1983 with (4) teachers and (6) students at Htee K’ Haw village, Karen State (at that time the school was called KKBBS). Jerry Lynn was the first principal of KKBBS until he retired in 1990. Because of the civil war in Karen State, the school was relocated to Wallei, Brigade 6 in 1987-1988, then it was relocated to Mae La Refugee camp. In the following year (1988-1989), the Rev. Dr. Saw Simon was elected to be the new principal of KKBBSC and he faithfully dedicated his whole life in serving the Lord until he rested in Peace in 2015, then Rev. Robert Kay Toh was elected to be the new principal of KKBBSC and he is faithfully serving the Lord until now. The Bible school has comprised of two programs, the first was K.T.S (Karen Theological Studies); and B.T.S (Bachelor of Theological Studies) but later B.TH program was then introduced in 2007. Why was KKBBSC established? Because of the Burmese Military Juna had intensified their military operations in Burma, KKBBSC was established to upgrade the level of knowledge and theological education and to equip young and old, men and women for the ministry of the churches in Kawthoolei as well as in various camps along the Thai border. The theme of the school was “Learning God’s Word to Be Well Equipped for Every Good Works.”

MISSION
To train God-called Karen men and women for Christian ministry, and especially in bringing the non-believers to Jesus Christ. VISION
To prepare Karen men and women in becoming leaders in Karen churches and in the Karen community.
