The value of higher education
Should students quit their education after high school? Some people have decided to pursue their higher education but some have given up. As a result, those who have never given up their learning have more opportunities to find a better paying job and become more skillful than the quitters. The living standards of the two groups become apparently different. So high school graduates should attain higher education to get least 3 benefits that higher education provides to them including preparation for their future careers, communication skills improvement and cognitive skills development.
The first benefit of higher education is it allows the students enough time to get ready for their future job. When the students enroll in a college, are asked to choose their favourite major. If some of them are not yet sure what major they really want to do, then they will have to wait until they are in year two. After year one, sophomores are required to select their favourite field which they will need for their desired career. For example, if a student wants to be an accountant, he or she has to do an accounting course. Therefore, tertiary education has played a key role in occupational preparation for the learners.
Moreover, during attending a class at a university, the students are given the opportunity to buildtheircommunication skills by doing assignments, tests and presentations. Lecturers usually assigne the students to work in groups which demands the members to work together to solve a problem or do projects. They need to learn to discuss ideas, share ideas, accept ideas and take their own responsibility. All of these are really important for teamwork that they will need in the future.
