ECO-WIND is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union within the action Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE)- Strand 2, supporting international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between organisations active in the field of higher education. This proj

ect is expected contribute to the overarching priorities of the European Commission: green deal and digital transformation. University of Agder is the project coordinator. The project duration is three years, starting from January 2025. Some specific objectives of the project include:
Developing new training modules and lectures in condition-based maintenance in wind energy. Conducting training of faculties/staffs of HEIs and professional engineers from electricity utilities and windfarm operators in partner institutions. Enhancing the laboratories for problem-based learning. Strengthening the collaboration between the participating universities from Norway, Estonia, Vietnam, Thailand and leveraging the students and staff exchange. Project description
This project aims at enhancing expert workforce and digitalization in the field of condition- based maintenance of wind turbines and related components in the partner institutions in Vietnam and Thailand. The project will also help the EU partners to renew their education in renewable energy and build a sustainable flow of students in both directions. The main objective of the project is to implement real problem-based teaching and learning methods in the curriculum of higher education institutions (HEIs) of the partner countries. Moreover, this project will build the capacity to produce graduates with independent, global insight, interdisciplinary expertise, competence in wind energy, and intercultural expertise. Project Activities:
Investigating needs and challenges of condition-based maintenance in local wind farms. Workshops on need analysis for developing courses, labs and training. Updating lab, lectures and curriculum. Staff and student mobilities among EU partners, Vietnam and Thailand.

As part of the ECO-WIND project, an in-person training session on Summary and Discussion was held at Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, on 17 July 2026. The session was led by Prof. Khang from the University of Agder (UiA) and included a presentation summarizing the objectives, achievements, and future directions of the ECO-WIND project. Participants were invited to share their knowledge, experiences, and feedback gained throughout the training program, fostering discussion and reflection on the practical applications of the skills acquired. As part of the ECO-WIND project, an in-person training session on Mini Projects on Component and Farm-Level Fault Detection was held at Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, on 16 July 2026. The session was delivered by Prof. Khang from the University of Agder (UiA) and featured mini-project presentations and discussions by Groups 1–5, 6–10, and 11–15, allowing participants to present their work and receive expert feedback. Prof. Khang also delivered a research presentation on wind turbine technologies and condition monitoring, providing participants with insights into current research and practical applications. The event concluded with the presentation of ECO-WIND certificates to participants who successfully completed the training. A total of 40 participants attended the session, demonstrating strong engagement and successful completion of the training program.

The session was delivered by Prof. Joao from the University of Agder (UiA) and focused on addressing participants' questions related to their mini projects, as well as demonstrating Python-based solutions for wind farm maintenance applications.
