A preposition is often placed before a noun or pronoun to show place, direction, or relation between them and other words.

Preposition of place:
Across: Our house is across the temple.
Above: The light is above the gate.
Below: The plane is flying below the clouds.
Over: The light is over the door.
Under: He is standing under the tree.
Before: Rutha is walking before Jenny.
After: The cat ran after the mouse.
Around: We put the flowers around the table
Between: Thailand is between Burma and Laos.
Among: Thailand is among, Burma, Laos, and Malaysia.
At: The children sit at the desk.
From: They came from China.
To: I go to school by bus.
Behind: They live behind the hill.
By: The house stands by the river.
Besides: It stands beside the tree
On: The dog is on the chair.
