The Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology (FAST) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) was pleased to welcome 𝗠𝘀. 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮 𝗞𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗶, Senior Program Officer at the Gates Foundation, for a strategic visit focused on advancing open-source Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) across the Asia-Pacific region.
The discussions explored the strategic vision for the DPI project, regional and international partnerships, university collaboration, private-sector engagement, and opportunities for cutting-edge research. Particular emphasis was placed on developing interoperable, user-centric and inclusive digital ecosystems that empower individuals with greater control over their digital credentials and data, while maintaining strong principles of privacy, security and consent.
FAST researchers also presented ongoing work in AI-assisted MOSIP deployment, AI Sentinel, AI agents, liveness detection, verifiable credentials, and AI-powered DPI use cases. The discussions highlighted opportunities to apply these technologies to real-world challenges and support inclusive digital transformation across Southeast and South Asia.
The visit also explored the potential for AIT to strengthen its role as a regional research and partnership hub for AI and DPI, connecting universities, governments, development organizations and the private sector.
FAST at AIT extends its appreciation to the Gates Foundation for the valuable strategic guidance, insightful discussions and shared vision for advancing open-source and inclusive Digital Public Infrastructure.

The Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, AIT, welcomed a delegation from Tongji University () and Henan University (), Shanghai, to the Asian Institute of Technology for a day of academic exchange and collaboration.
The visit opened with a collaboration meeting, where the delegation presented their research directions, including connected and autonomous vehicles, cooperative control of transportation systems, communication theory and security, urban traffic management through graph neural networks, and AI driven energy technologies for microgrid systems. Representatives from Henan University's School of Artificial Intelligence also outlined their research focus, spanning information fusion, intelligent signal processing, and collaborative control, with applications in smart cities, UAV swarms, smart ports, and connected vehicle systems.
The visit concluded with a tour of the AI and Simulation Lab, offering the delegation a closer look at ongoing research at FAST. The discussions laid the groundwork for future collaboration, including potential student and faculty exchange, joint research initiatives, and co-authored publications.

The Remote Sensing and GIS (RS&GIS) program at the Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology (FAST), AIT, in collaboration with the Chubu Institute of Advanced Studies, Chubu University, Japan, successfully hosted the 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 2026 from 17 to 28 August 2026 at AIT, Pathum Thani, Thailand.
Under the theme "𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁", 10 participants from 5 countries came together for an intensive two-week program exploring how Geoinformatics technology can address real-world challenges in sustainable energy, water management, agriculture, and urban planning across Asia.
The program featured lectures, hands-on sessions, field trips to the Khao Hin Son Royal Development Study Center, Kubota Smart Farm, and the EGAT Learning Center, a cultural trip to Ayutthaya, and a session on Big Data and AI Technology for Society at SIIT, culminating in individual presentations and a closing ceremony.
A meaningful exchange of knowledge, perspectives, and experiences across borders. 🌱

We were pleased to welcome 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝘂𝗻 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝘂, Vice President for External Relations and Internationalization and Sustainability Adviser at De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines, to FAST. During his visit, he met with Dean 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘄𝘂𝘁 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘁 for a meaningful exchange and discussion.
Prof. Chiu is a proud AIT alumnus, having graduated from the Industrial Engineering and Management program in 1988, and his visit reflects the enduring connection between AIT and its global alumni community.
The discussion touched on AIT's ongoing faculty and school restructuring, opportunities for faculty recruitment through the Philippine alumni network, and potential pathways for strengthening ties between AIT and De La Salle University.

Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology hosted a workshop on 𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 at the AIT Conference Center. The event brought together faculty, researchers, and students to examine how artificial intelligence can support earlier detection of stroke risk and more informed recovery monitoring.
Student researchers presented their ongoing work throughout the day, ranging from a lightweight EEG based AI model designed to distinguish normal brain activity from patterns associated with stroke risk, demonstrated live using a Muse EEG headset, to a graph based AI approach developed to handle incomplete clinical data, a common limitation in real world healthcare records. Together, the projects reflected a shared focus on making stroke risk detection faster, more accessible, and more reliable in real world conditions.
The workshop closed with an open discussion involving practicing clinicians, who offered feedback on the clinical relevance and practical application of the research, including its potential role in home based and continuous monitoring. The event underscored the Faculty's ongoing commitment to advancing applied AI research with real world healthcare impact.
