เริ่มจากหน้าบ้าน พลิกฟื้นพื้นที่ว่างให้กลายเป็นพื้นที่เรียนรู้ปลอดภัยสำหรับเด็กและชุมชน
หากลองดูว่าพื้นที่เรียนรู้ทั้ง 13 แห่งในโครงการนี้ตั้งอยู่ที่ไหน จะพบว่าทุกแห่งเริ่มจากพื้นที่ที่มีอยู่แล้วในชุมชน บางแห่งพัฒนาพื้นที่รกร้างในชุมชนขึ้นมาเป็นลานเล่น บางแห่งใช้พื้นที่หน้าบ้าน อาคารเก่ากลางชุมชน ศาลาวัด ป่าชุมชน และพื้นที่ริมน้ำที่เด็กๆ เดินผ่านกันทุกวัน
ความหมายของคำว่าพลิกฟื้นในที่นี้จึงไม่ใช่การสร้างของใหม่ แต่คือการมองสิ่งที่มีอยู่แล้วในชุมชนให้เป็นประโยชน์กับเด็กที่อยู่ตรงนั้น
ตลอดหนึ่งปีที่ผ่านมา ความเปลี่ยนแปลงเกิดขึ้นพร้อมกันที่ตัวเด็ก ที่คนทำงาน และที่ชุมชน เด็กๆ ห่างจากหน้าจอมากขึ้นและกล้าแสดงออกมากขึ้น แกนนำคนรุ่นใหม่จัดกิจกรรมได้ยืดหยุ่นขึ้นและประสานงานกับผู้คนได้ดีขึ้น ส่วนผู้ปกครองและผู้คนในชุมชนเริ่มเปิดพื้นที่ และเข้ามาร่วมออกแบบกิจกรรมให้เด็กๆ
ก้าวต่อไปคือคำถามเรื่องความยั่งยืน แต่ละพื้นที่จึงเริ่มออกแบบวิธีหารายได้ของตัวเอง เพื่อให้สามารถจัดสรรทรัพยากรและดูแลกิจกรรมของตัวเองต่อไปได้ ทั้งหลักสูตรการเรียนรู้ท้องถิ่นที่สร้างจากประวัติชุมชน โปรแกรมท่องเที่ยวเชิงอนุรักษ์ที่มีเด็กเป็นไกด์ และคาเฟ่ชุมชนที่เชื่อมกับกิจกรรมสำรวจธรรมชาติ ซึ่งทั้งหมดนี้ยังอยู่ในขั้นตอนการออกแบบ
โครงการคนรุ่นใหม่กับการพัฒนาพื้นที่เรียนรู้บนฐานชุมชนสำหรับเด็ก ดำเนินการโดยมูลนิธิอาสาสมัครเพื่อสังคม (มอส.) โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสำนักงานกองทุนสนับสนุนการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพ (สสส.) ปัจจุบันดำเนินการมาถึงรุ่นที่ 3 มีพื้นที่เรียนรู้เข้าร่วมทั้งหมด 13 แห่ง ใน 11 จังหวัด

Starting at the Doorstep: Turning Unused Spaces into Safe Learning Spaces for Children and Communities
Look at what the 13 learning spaces in this project are actually built on, and you find that every one of them started with something the community already had. One developed an abandoned plot into a play area. Others use an old building in the middle of the community, a temple pavilion, a community forest, or a riverbank the children walk past every day.
Renewal here does not mean building something new. It means looking again at what a community already has and finding a way for it to serve the children who live there.
Over the past year, change has appeared at the same time in the children, in the people running these spaces, and in the communities around them. Children have moved away from their screens and speak up more. The young leaders have become more flexible in how they run activities and better at coordinating with people. Parents and community members have begun opening up their spaces and helping design activities for the children.
The next question is sustainability. Each space has begun designing its own way of generating income so that it can allocate resources and keep its activities going. These include local learning courses built on community history, eco-tourism programs with children as guides, and community cafés linked to nature exploration activities. All of them are still in the design phase.
The New Generation and the Development of Community-Based Learning Spaces for Children Project is run by the Thai Volunteer Service Foundation (TVS) with support from the Thai Health Promotion Foundation. It is now in its 3rd cohort, with 13 learning spaces taking part across 11 provinces.
