Wish you were here…sending a Friday postcard from the awesome double storey treehouse at We just 💚 this when we went on our school tour of the Nexus campus some time back (back in those good old days of in-person school tours!) Not just a fun space for children to play in but one which the school uses to engage and enhance a child’s learning experience, all part of the school’s ethos to not confine learning to four walls. We wish we were there right now!

Today is World Teacher’s Day and while there are many teachers we’d love to personally thank for being amazing teachers to ourselves and our children over the years, the list would be very long! So instead, we are going to shine the spotlight on Anne Sullivan. If you recognise her name but aren’t sure why, it’s probably because you learnt about her yourself at school.
Anne Sullivan was teacher to Helen Keller, the first deaf-blind person to graduate college, and it was while teaching Helen that Anne developed the concept of connecting signs to objects. Still to this day, many schools for children with disabilities base their programmes around Anne’s child-centred methods.

This week we’ve been talking to Ms Melissa Maria, Principal of Global Indian International School (GIIS) SMART Campus in Singapore (Global Indian International School - GIIS SMART Campus - Punggol, Singapore) on what drives her passion for education…clue: watching happy children and staff walking into school each morning certainly helps, as does seeing students collaborate and innovate in the school’s custom-built studios and digital classrooms.
