How It All Began: A Family’s Dream for Korat
In 2012, Raweekan and Stanton, a Thai-South African couple, welcomed their first daughters. Like all parents, they wanted the very best for them. But instead of waiting for the "perfect" school, they decided to create it.

Inspired by the Montessori philosophy, they transformed a part of their own home into a nurturing learning environment. It wasn’t a business plan—it was a labor of love. Here, their daughters explored practical life activities, sensorial materials, and the pure joy of learning at their own pace.

Word spread. Friends and neighbors saw the confidence and independence blossoming in those little ones, and soon, other parents asked, “Can our children join too?”

With open hearts, Raweekan and Stanton officially opened the doors to Korat Montessori’s Toddler and Primary program.

What started as a home-school for two little girls grew into a thriving community—one child, one family, at a time.

Today, we are so proud for dreaming big and bringing this gift of Montessori education to our community.

📚 หนังสือก่อนหน้าจอ — Books Before Screens

ในโลกที่หน้าจอเข้ามาแย่งชิงความสนใจของเด็กตั้งแต่อายุยังน้อย เราเลือกสิ่งที่แตกต่างออกไป:

ให้หนังสือมาก่อนหน้าจอ

ไม่ใช่เพราะเราปฏิเสธเทคโนโลยี แต่เพราะเราต้องการปกป้องสิ่งสำคัญที่ควรได้รับการพัฒนาในวัยเด็ก — สมาธิ ภาษา การคิด และจินตนาการ

หน้าจอนำเสนอภาพและเรื่องราวที่ถูกสร้างไว้ให้พร้อมแล้ว
แต่หนังสือเรียกร้องสิ่งที่ทรงพลังกว่าจากเด็ก นั่นคือ การคิด การจินตนาการ และการสร้างความหมายด้วยตัวเอง

เมื่อเด็กอ่านหนังสือ เขาต้อง:

* สร้างภาพขึ้นในใจ
* ติดตามความคิดและเรื่องราวโดยไม่มีภาพมาช่วยบอกทุกอย่าง
* เชื่อมโยงความรู้ใหม่เข้ากับสิ่งที่รู้อยู่แล้ว

เด็กอ่านเรื่องดวงดาว แล้วเริ่มตั้งคำถามเกี่ยวกับจักรวาล
อ่านเรื่องไดโนเสาร์ 🦖แล้วอยากค้นหาต่อเรื่องวิวัฒนาการ
อ่านเรื่องประเทศหนึ่ง แล้วเปิดประตูไปสู่ภูมิศาสตร์ ประวัติศาสตร์ และวัฒนธรรม

หนังสือหนึ่งเล่มไม่ได้ทำให้การเรียนรู้สิ้นสุดลง แต่กลับทำให้การเรียนรู้แตกแขนงออกไปอีกมากมาย

และนี่คือสิ่งที่เราต้องการรักษาไว้ในตัวเด็ก — ไม่ใช่เพียงความสามารถในการอ่าน แต่คือ ความอยากรู้อยากเห็น จินตนาการ และความรักในการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต 🌱

เราไม่ได้ต้องการให้เด็ก อ่านได้เร็วที่สุด หรือ อ่านหนังสือได้มากที่สุด

สิ่งที่เราอยากเห็น คือวันที่เด็กหยิบหนังสือขึ้นมาอ่านด้วยตัวเอง แล้วพูดว่า

“ฉันอยากรู้มากกว่านี้”🙋‍♀️❓

เพราะเมื่อเด็กค้นพบว่า เขาสามารถอ่านเพื่อค้นหาคำตอบด้วยตัวเองได้ เขาก็กำลังก้าวจากการเป็นผู้ที่รอให้ใครสักคนมาสอน ไปสู่การเป็น ผู้เรียนรู้ด้วยตนเอง (Independent Learner) 🌱

Why Montessori Values Books in Childhood

In a world where children are being introduced to screens earlier and earlier, we choose to encourage them to reach for a book before reaching for a screen.

Not because we reject technology, but because we believe that childhood is a crucial time for building the foundations of concentration, language, thinking, and imagination.

When children watch a screen, much of the imagery, sound, and storytelling is already created for them.

But when children read, their minds work differently.

They create pictures in their imagination.
They follow the story.
They connect new ideas with what they already know.
They ask questions and imagine what they cannot see.

Especially in Montessori Elementary, reading is not simply another “subject.” It becomes a gateway to independent learning.

A child may read about the stars and become curious about the solar system.🌖
Read about dinosaurs🦖 and begin exploring evolution.
Read about another country and discover geography, history, and culture.

One book can lead to a hundred new questions.

This is what we want to preserve in every child—not simply the ability to read, but curiosity and a genuine love of learning.

We do not want children to read the fastest or finish the most books.

We want to see the day when a child picks up a book by themselves and says:

“I want to know more.”🙋‍♂️❓

Because when children discover that they can read to find their own answers, they begin to move from waiting for someone to teach them to becoming independent learners.

Every Wednesday, our students borrow a book and return it the following Wednesday, building a lifelong love for reading.
We’re starting our weekly theme with Zoology—animals, adventure, and discovery await! 🐒🦋
