MBUISC to Hold Visakha Bucha Day Celebration 2026
Mahamakut Buddhist University, Isan Campus (MBUISC), is scheduled to organise the National and Religious Important Day Programme: “Visakha Bucha Day 2026” on Thursday, 28 May 2026, at the Sirindhorn Academic Resource Centre Conference Room, 2nd Floor.
The project aims to encourage lecturers, university students, and network school students to recognise the significance of one of the most important Buddhist holy days through academic activities and Dhamma-based learning experiences.
The programme will commence at 8.30 a.m., graciously presided over by Venerable Phramahasuphachai Suphakijjo, Associate Professor Dr., Director of the College of Theology.
The event will feature a variety of engaging academic and educational activities, including:
• Educational Guidance and Curriculum Introduction under the theme
“From the Classroom to Career Pathways”, presented by lecturers from all nine undergraduate programmes.
• A special lecture on
“Nation, Religion, Monarchy, and the Thai Land”
delivered by Dr. Prasert Chomphromma.
• A Dhamma talk on
“Education for Life Development”
delivered by Venerable Phramahasuphachai Suphakijjo, Associate Professor Dr.
• Visakha Bucha Dhamma Quiz Competition and General Knowledge Contest for school students, with awards and certificates presented by the university.
At the conclusion of the programme, Venerable Phramahasuphachai Suphakijjo will present awards to competition winners and officially deliver the closing remarks at 4.30 p.m.
This project forms part of the university’s mission to preserve arts and culture, while sustainably promoting Buddhist teachings and moral values within society.

MBUISC participated in Ceremony for the Appointment of the Abbot of Wat Pa Saeng Arun Royal Monastery

On Tuesday, 26 May 2026 at 4.30 p.m., executives, lecturers, staff members, and student representatives of Mahamakut Buddhist University, Isan Campus (MBUISC), participated in the auspicious ceremony for the presentation of the Supreme Patriarch’s Ecclesiastical Appointment Decree appointing the abbot of Wat Pa Saeng Arun Royal Monastery.
The ceremony was graciously presided over by Somdet Phra Maha Veerawong, Member of the Supreme Sangha Council, who officially presented the Supreme Patriarch’s appointment decree following the royal proclamation by His Majesty the King, graciously elevating Wat Pa Saeng Arun, Mueang Khon Kaen District, Khon Kaen Province, to the status of a Third Class Ordinary Royal Monastery.
The event took place at the temple’s historic Isan-style Ubosot (Sim Isan) and was attended by senior ecclesiastical leaders, including the Ecclesiastical Governor of Region 9 (Dhammayuttika Nikaya), the Sangha Governor of Khon Kaen Province (Dhammayuttika Nikaya), monks, government officials, educational institutions, merchants, local residents, and Buddhist devotees from across the province.
Among the distinguished attendees were Mr. Kajornkiat Rakpanichmanee, Governor of Khon Kaen Province, and Mr. Prachuap Rakpaet, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province, together with heads of government agencies and members of the public who joined the ceremony in unity and devotion.
On this occasion, Chief Petty Officer Saengrit, Senior Professional Cultural Officer acting on behalf of the Khon Kaen Provincial Cultural Office, together with cultural office personnel, attended the ceremony and assigned officials to support ceremonial and administrative operations throughout the event.
The ceremony reached its most auspicious moment when Somdet Phra Maha Veerawong formally bestowed the appointment decree appointing Phra Brahmavajiradilok as the Abbot of Wat Pa Saeng Arun Royal Monastery amid the resonant chanting of victory blessings by senior monks and members of the Sangha.
The participation of MBU Isan Campus reflected the university’s close commitment to supporting the affairs of the Thai Sangha and preserving Buddhist institutions. Wat Pa Saeng Arun and Venerable Phra Brahmavajiradilok have long served as significant pillars in promoting Buddhism, monastic education, and spiritual development throughout Northeastern Thailand.

MBUISC Faculty Prepare for Ecclesiastical Appointment Ceremony at Wat Pa Saeng Arun Royal Monastery

On Sunday, 24 May 2026, from 8.30 a.m. to 9.00 p.m., faculty members and staff of Mahamakut Buddhist University, Isan Campus (MBUISC), joined together in preparing the venue and organising activities at Wat Pa Saeng Arun Royal Monastery, Khon Kaen Province.

The preparations were made in anticipation of the important ecclesiastical ceremony to be held on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 at 3.59 p.m., during which the official royal ecclesiastical appointment decree will be ceremonially received.

On this auspicious occasion, His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch, the Supreme Sangha Leader of Thailand, has graciously appointed Venerable Phra Brahmavajiradilok (Saman Sumedho, Pali IX), Advisor to the Ecclesiastical Region 9 (Dhammayuttika Nikaya), to the position of:

Abbot of Wat Pa Saeng Arun Royal Monastery

The ceremony will take place at the Ubosot (Isan-style Sim) of Wat Pa Saeng Arun, located in Phra Lap Subdistrict, Mueang Khon Kaen District, Khon Kaen Province.

The event marks a significant and auspicious milestone for the monastery, the Sangha community, and the Buddhist faithful in the Northeast of Thailand.

MBUISC Organises AUN-QA Criteria for Educational Quality Assurance and Knowledge Management Seminar

Mahamakut Buddhist University, Isan Campus (MBUISC), organised a three day Educational Quality Assurance Seminar for Assessor Development and Knowledge Management from 20–22 May 2026, aiming to strengthen academic quality systems and enhance institutional management in line with modern higher education standards.

On 20 May 2026, the seminar was presided over by Venerable Phrasutheevajiradhamma, Assistant Professor Dr., Vice-Rector of MBU Isan Campus. The keynote speaker was Ajarn Thanawat Chaopho, lecturer from Mahamakut Buddhist University, Srilanchang Campus, and developer of the university’s digital system. The session focused on the use of E-Port, E-SAR, and Course systems, enabling academic programmes and teaching-related information to be systematically stored and effectively utilised for quality assessment and executive decision-making.

On 21 May 2026, the seminar continued under the chairmanship of Venerable Phrasirisaramedhi, Director of the Office, with special lectures delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Panadda Sangsrikaew and Assistant Professor Dr. Paweena Khansila from Kalasin University. The sessions focused on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and the AUN-QA framework, aiming to develop understanding and alignment in curriculum management according to expected learning outcomes.

On 22 May 2026 with further discussions and workshops on the implementation of OBE and AUN-QA standards, reinforcing effective teaching and learning practices and promoting continuous quality improvement within the university.
The seminar demonstrates MBUISC’s dedication to improving academic quality, institutional growth, and educational standards to meet modern global benchmarks.

Royal Proclamation Elevates Wat Pa Saeng Arun to Royal Monastery Status

"His Majesty the King has graciously issued a Royal Command elevating several local temples to the status of Royal Monasteries (Phra Aram Luang), as published in the Royal Gazette, Volume 143, Special Section 125 Ng, dated 20 May 2026."
Among the five temples honoured on this auspicious occasion is Wat Pa Saeng Arun, which has officially been elevated to a Third-Class Ordinary Royal Monastery.
This royal recognition has been granted in honour of Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, on the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty’s 4th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 3 June 2026.
Wat Pa Saeng Arun was established by revered meditation masters in the lineage of Phra Kru Vinayadhara Mun Bhuridatta (Luang Pu Mun), whose tradition has long been deeply respected by the Thai Royal Family. The monastery has served as a peaceful and spiritually conducive place for Buddhist practice, with well-maintained monastic facilities and a strong foundation in Buddhist administration, religious propagation, fine arts, and monastic education.
The temple is especially recognised for its distinctive Isan-style Sim (ordination hall), reflecting local wisdom and traditional northeastern Thai architecture. Over the years, the monastery has continued to flourish under the guidance of highly respected monks proficient in Buddhist studies, becoming an important centre for the study of Dhamma and Pāli in the region.
Today, Wat Pa Saeng Arun stands as a prominent spiritual and educational landmark of Khon Kaen Province and the Northeast of Thailand, contributing significantly to the preservation of Buddhism, culture, and Sangha education for future generations.

Novice Ordination Academic year 2026 Held in Demonstration school of Mahamakut University in Loei province.

On 10 May 2026, the Novice Ordination Programme for the Academic Year 2026 was solemnly held at the Demonstration School of Mahamakut Buddhist University in Loei Province.

The programme provided young participants with the opportunity to enter the monastic life, study the Dhamma and Buddhist discipline, and develop themselves both spiritually and academically. The ceremony reflected the university’s continuing commitment to preserving Buddhism and promoting moral education among Thai youth.
