“ไหว้/wâai” is a traditional action that Thai people use for greeting, farewell, begging, thank, and apologize. It is also a symbol for paying respect. We generally do “wâai” to people with higher social status. For example, monk, parent, boss, teacher and older people etc. Base on original Thai tradition, there are many level of “wâai”.
