Signed, sealed, delivered… we’re learning with active maths! 📬💌 Our little posties loved sorting, counting, and delivering letters in this hands-on postal-themed maths lesson.

This helps children with number recognition and different ways to represent number value.

10 WAYS TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS WITH YOUR CHILD:

TALK REGULARLY WITH YOUR CHILD.
Children who have trouble communicating may not want to talk at all. Your job is to encourage your child to begin or join in conversations as much as possible.

DESCRIBE THE DAY.
Encourage your child to tell you how the day went. You can ask about activities at school because this helps with recall and sequencing. You can respond by telling your child about your day in order to create a nice exchange between you and your child.

LISTEN TO AND REPEAT WHAT YOUR CHILD SAY.
One of the most important conversation skills is to listening to and expanding upon what someone else say. You can show your child how that works by doing it yourself. After your child has told you something, repeat part of, and then follow up with a question.

HAVE PRACTICE CONVERSATIONS WITH YOUR CHILD.
Talk through the types of situation your child might be the most nervous about. Practice what your child might say. Take turns pretending to be each person in the conversation. That way, the child can think through different scenarios, conversation topics and response.

POINT OUT BODY LANGUAGE
Children who struggle with communication may not always pick up on other people's non-verbal cues or body language. So for children this age, consider showing and explaining body language.

START FUN CONVERSATIONS WITH YOUR CHILD.
Topics could range from "What was the funniest thing you saw in school today?" Just keep the flow of the conversation going.

READ WITH YOUR CHILD
It doesn't matter what you read with your child. What's most important is that you do it together. If you're concerned that your child chooses the same books every night, don't be. Reading the same book over and over help children develop a better understanding of the characters, plot and vocabulary.

TEACH YOUR CHILD HOW TO PLAY CONVERSATIONAL "CATCH"
The goal is for your child to get comfortable having back-and-forth conversations.

ASK YOUR CHILD'S OPINION
Communicating requires children to reflect on their feelings so the conversation can be as simple as whether dogs or cats are friendlier.

ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO KEEP A JOURNAL
Some children find it easier to talk with other people once they've had a chance to think their thoughts through. It can help to write in a diary or journal about day-to-day activities and feeling.

We believe it’s really important to nurture personal skills and interests. One of our Explorers has a passion for experimenting with different fonts, and here they get to dive into various pencil strokes and ways of forming letters.

It’s a great way for them to develop a handwriting style that’s uniquely their own ✍️💖

Music and Movement:
Engaging in music and movement activities can support physical coordination, balance, emotional expression, communication and social connections.

Action Game:
This can help children to develop social skills such as turn-taking, cooperation and following instructions.
