His Holiness Somdej Phra Thiranyanamuni Worakhayo
Most people, when advised to give alms,
think only of donating money to the temple.
But in reality, there are many other ways to
give alms. Let's do as much as we can.
The Buddha said...
"Even if you don't have wealth, you can still
give alms to others with these five things."
1. The face is a gift: A smile can bring joy.
A cheerful person often brings comfort to those around them. Worried people feel better when they smile. A smile is a source of encouragement and light to the world.
2. Words are a gift: Speak words of encouragement, praise, and comfort to others. Even if you can't help anyone, your words can give you encouragement and give you the strength to continue fighting obstacles.
3. A mind of giving: We can open our hearts and minds to others with humility and sincerity. A mind of giving makes us respectful, considerate, and honorable towards others.
We are gentle, humble, soft, and compassionate, and want to help each other.
4. Eyes are a gift: Use your eyes to show goodwill and kindness to others. Our eyes can smile and see everything in a positive light,
in a beautiful light, with love.
5. Physical charity: We can use our physical strength to help others. Working hard to help others, contributing to society, cleaning and repairing public things, and protecting and caring for everything for the benefit of the public are all good things.
. Giving Dhamma conquers all giving ..
