Professor Yukifumi Nawa, MD, PhD (1944–2026)
It is with profound sadness to the passing of Professor Yukifumi Nawa, MD, PhD, a distinguished parasitologist, mentor, colleague, and dear friend of our department.
Professor Nawa was internationally recognized as one of the pioneers of immunoparasitology, whose pioneering work on host immune responses to helminth infections profoundly advanced the understanding of parasite–host interactions. His scientific contributions have had a lasting impact on parasitology, tropical medicine, and global health, inspiring researchers across generations.
For more than 15 years, Professor Nawa worked closely with our faculty members in research, graduate education, and academic development. He was a frequent visitor to Khon Kaen University, where he generously shared his expertise through lectures, seminars, and discussions. His teaching in immunology and parasitology inspired countless undergraduate and postgraduate students, while his thoughtful mentorship helped shape the careers of many young scientists and academic staff.
Beyond his research achievements, Professor Nawa was a dedicated leader in the international scientific community. He played a pivotal role in promoting excellence in tropical medicine and parasitology research, fostering scientific collaboration across the world.
To those who had the privilege of working with him, Professor Nawa will be remembered not only as an exceptional scientist but also as a humble, compassionate, and generous mentor. His enthusiasm for science, unwavering commitment to education, and genuine kindness left an enduring impression on everyone he met. His wisdom, encouragement, and friendship have become an integral part of our department’s history.
The Department of Parasitology extends its deepest condolences to Professor Nawa’s family, friends, colleagues, and former students. We are profoundly grateful for his invaluable contributions to our department and to the international scientific community. His legacy will continue to inspire our faculty, researchers, and students for many years to come.
May Professor Yukifumi Nawa rest in peace. His remarkable contributions to science, education, and our department will always be remembered with the deepest respect and gratitude.

รำลึกถึง ศาสตราจารย์ ยูกิฟูมิ นาวะ (Professor Yukifumi Nawa, MD, PhD) อายุ 82 ปี
คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ขอแสดงความอาลัยอย่างสุดซึ้งต่อการจากไปของ ศาสตราจารย์ ยูกิฟูมิ นาวะ ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ นักวิชาการ และอาจารย์ผู้เป็นที่เคารพรักของทุกคน
ตลอดระยะเวลากว่า 15 ปี ศาสตราจารย์นาวะได้อุทิศตนในการพัฒนางานด้านการศึกษาและการวิจัยของภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์เขตร้อน ในฐานะ Adjunct Professor โดยท่านมีบทบาทสำคัญในการส่งเสริมองค์ความรู้ด้านปรสิตวิทยาและเวชศาสตร์เขตร้อน พร้อมสร้างคุณูปการอันทรงคุณค่าต่อคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น
นอกจากผลงานทางวิชาการและงานวิจัยที่โดดเด่นแล้ว ศาสตราจารย์ ยูกิฟูมิ นาวะ ยังเป็นครู ผู้ให้คำปรึกษา และแรงบันดาลใจแก่คณาจารย์ นักวิจัย และนักศึกษาหลายรุ่น ด้วยความมุ่งมั่น ความอ่อนน้อม และความทุ่มเทในการพัฒนางานด้านสุขภาพระดับนานาชาติ คุณงามความดีและผลงานของท่านจะยังคงอยู่ในความทรงจำของพวกเราตลอดไป
