Water Filtration Activity
KG 2/2 learned about the process of water filtration through a fun and hands-on activity. The children discovered how different materials can help remove dirt and impurities from water.
We used cotton, charcoal, sand, and stones to create a simple water filter. The materials were placed in layers, with the cotton at the bottom, followed by charcoal, sand, and stones.
The children carefully poured dirty water through the filter and watched as it passed through each layer. They observed that the water coming out of the filter looked cleaner and clearer than before.
Through this activity, the children learned that different layers have different jobs. The stones and sand help trap larger and smaller particles, while charcoal helps remove some impurities and odors. The cotton helps catch fine particles.
The activity encouraged the children to observe, explore, ask questions, and learn through experience.Most importantly, they learned that water can be filtered using simple materials, while also understanding that filtered water is not necessarily safe to drink without proper treatment.
It was an exciting and engaging learning experience for KG 2/2! 💧🪨🪵
