About CSPP
The goal of the Civil Society Partnerships Project (CSPP) is to leverage partnerships to improve management skills, organizational capacity, and sustainability of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the Lower Mekong Sub-region (LMS). Funded by USAID and implemented through the Khon Kaen University’s Center for Civil Society and Non-Profit Management (CSNM), CSPP works to achieve the
following two main objectives:
Objective 1:
To strengthen professionalism of CSOs to carry-out oversight responsibilities
Objective 2:
To expand platforms for CSOs to engage each other and policymakers on issues related to strategy, advocacy and operations. CSO Leadership and Professionalism Capacity Building
As part of the Civil Society Partnerships Project, CSNM will offer management training courses for leaders of CSOs and academic programs for future leaders in the non-profit sector. Our courses are innovative and responsive to the needs of the CSOs from LMS countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam). CSO leaders may choose from a number of services to strengthen their professionalism and management skills, including executive training courses, mentorship, action research studies, learning events, networking, and funding for small projects. Future civil society leaders LMS will have an opportunity to build management skills that will help them succeed in the non-profit sector. In addition to academic coursework at the undergraduate and graduate levels, fellowship opportunities and internship programs will be offered to qualified students from the LMS.
2. Establishing Standards for CSOs
In consultation with civil society practitioners and academic experts, CSNM will develop standards for professionalism along with governing principles and values that CSOs in Thailand and in the region can use to bolster their credibility and reputation.
3. Public Dialogues and Learning Events
The Civil Society Partnerships Project aims to establish an interactive knowledge platform at CSNM for CSOs in the region to connect, learn and share innovations and effective approaches to address common issues faced by CSOs in Thailand and the region. Such a platform would include workshops, learning seminars, and public events, as well as online interactive spaces where CSOs with similar interests can connect with and learn from each other. In this way, CSPP seeks to strengthen its role as a hub of innovation for building the next generation of CSOs in the region.
4. Research and Innovation
Under CSPP, CSNM will engage experts to coordinate issue-based and LMS-relevant research. Research committees will include members from the LMS countries and produce reports that stimulate analysis, promote best practices, and share innovative approaches for CSOs to connect with and mobilize their constituents. Knowledge sharing and networking will be facilitated through regional conferences on these topics.
5. Institutional Networks and Coalitions
Under the Civil Society Partnerships Project, CSNM will build and expand upon existing networks of CSOs and academic institutions in the LMS. Guidance and inputs contributed by the network’s experts will help inform and guide CSPP’s activities.
