The Asian Center of Applied Mindfulness is dedicated to integrating mindfulness in business and educational settings. With a practice centered approach, our experienced teachers provide training methods for developing mindfulness practitioners, teachers and facilitators. Our mission is to contribute to the transformation of education and business by encouraging the use of mindfulness practices in

service of a more just and compassionate society. We offer training courses for adults and adolescents to learn mindfulness and share it with various populations. Mindfulness is a simple and powerful technique to focus attention, cultivate concentration, manage emotions, handle stress, and resolve conflicts. We train practitioners how to practice – through direct experience. Our mindfulness curriculum offers improvements in concentration, attention, and empathy, while contributing to a climate of calm in a place of business or in the classroom. Our teachers have over sixty years combined experience. Education today can be stressful. High demands and expectations of students can create unnecessary stress and worry for students. For the modern student, cultivating a mindfulness practice, contributes to holistic education. By training the mind through specific practices, students, teachers and parents can learn to relate with thoughts and emotions. Over the last ten years, training in the cultivation of moment-by-moment focused attention has thrived in the field of education. Research on mindfulness suggests that sustained mindfulness practice enhances attention and emotional regulation and promotes flexibility. These qualities offer real benefits. For teachers, personal training and practice of mindfulness skills can increase their well-being and ability to maintain supportive relationships with students. Students doing these practices have shown a range of cognitive and social benefits. These include improvements in memory, attention, academic skills, social skills, and emotional regulation. We see that students who meditate report improvements in mood, with less anxiety, stress, and fatigue. Through continued mindfulness practice, students give the mind a chance to rest, which in turn produces a sense of ease. When the mind is able to rest, insights happen and improved learning arises. By reducing stress, students are better equipped to retain and process information, giving the student more resilience and better control over their learning. The most important aspect of your child’s educational experience might in fact be this capacity of inner resilience. At the Asian Center for Applied Mindfulness we believe that a practice based curriculum, facilitated by experienced mindfulness instructors can prepare teachers, parents and administrators to train children and other educators. We provide training, workshops and certification. We provide training specific to your organization’s needs and the needs of your staff. We help teachers, students and parents develop tools to cultivate confidence in their ability to work with their minds. In this way we also foster ideas of kindness and awareness. If we can teach mindfulness to future generations and their teachers, they may more successfully maintain mindfulness practices throughout their lives. Mindful Business:

Good management produces a healthy society. Managing ourselves is the first challenge since we can’t manage anything well without first managing ourselves. How present are we for ongoing moment-to-moment experiences? Scattered and unfocused, life can become stressed and confused. In the middle of the usual multitasking activity of business, we can unintentionally slip into emotions and actions that lead to negative and unnecessary personal and professional outcomes. When we live with greater mindfulness we can act from choice and be more effective. When we examine the nature of what it means to live well at work or at home, we quickly realize that quality of life transcends bank accounts. We know it means expressing our potential by engaging in meaningful life-work and making positive contributions to society. With greater mindfulness we can choose where we want to invest our attention. Business schools are beginning to teach mindfulness. We know there are specific techniques to people calm their minds and increase focus. Developing these skills is increasingly important for succeeding in an accelerating environment where distractions constantly intrude. At the Asian Center for Applied Mindfulness, we believe mindfulness should be at the center of business. We introduce business people to techniques for concentrating on their breathing and becoming more aware of sounds and sensations, how to help themselves center at the office, in business meetings, and while making decisions. It’s all about attention. By improving the quality of attention, we improve productivity and the quality of decisions. In addition to peace of mind, mindfulness can fuel work. A quiet mind more easily recognizes business opportunities, is naturally more creative and ready to react more intelligently. When leaders begin to implement these techniques in their workspace we see mindful organizations emerge that pay more care and attention to what is happening within them.
