As we head into the final week of term, there is plenty to look forward to at Halio.

This Wednesday, our annual Halio Flea Market returns. Students have been busy creating decorations, applying for business licences, and making products to sell. It's always one of the highlights of the term and a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and celebrate our school community.

On Friday, students will head off on their end-of-term trips, with different groups enjoying adventures that they have helped choose and plan.

Last week was another busy one, with trips to Queen's Park, the design of our new Halio sports shirts, and preparations for the Flea Market. Across the school, students continued to demonstrate impressive ownership, creativity, and teamwork as they led projects and brought their ideas to life.

We look forward to celebrating a wonderful final week. Read the full Week 13 wrap-up and event details: https://wix.to/PrkLnmD

Student Leadership in Action
By Laura and Vicky

At Halio, every Upper Primary student joins an Area of Responsibility. It's our chance to take on real jobs around the school and learn what leadership is all about.

Each team meets with a teacher once a week, but the ideas, planning and hard work come from us. We work together to solve problems, improve our school and turn our ideas into reality.

Right now, we're working on:

* Organising the school's annual flea market.

* Redesigning the playground for younger students.

* Measuring and costing a brand-new sports pitch.

* Designing new Halio sports shirts that we'll wear ourselves.

* Running weekly events, like our chess tournament last week.

* Making resources for our weekly school trips.

* Creating road signs and improving pathways to make our school safer.

* Looking after our library, technology, art spaces, sports equipment and school environment.

* Running our weekly café, where we design the menu, prepare food and drinks, serve customers, and manage the money.

These aren't just ideas, they're projects that could become real changes around our school!

We like being trusted with responsibilities that really matter. It helps us become more confident, work better as a team and think creatively. It's exciting to know that something we've designed, organised or built could have a lasting impact on our whole school community.

At Halio, we don't just learn about our community - we help shape it!

Week 12: Preparing, Producing & Problem Solving

From designing new sports shirts and preparing for our annual Flea Market to harvesting produce from the school farm and sharing exciting new playground plans, it has been another busy week at Halio.

Our students continue to take ownership of their learning and school life, leading projects, solving problems, and making a real contribution to our community.

🛠️ A Mud Kitchen for Kindergarten

Something exciting is taking shape at HALIO!

As part of their Changemakers project, the Sabertooth class (our newest Upper Primary group) has designed and started building a mud kitchen and water garden for our Kindergarten children.

A mud kitchen is an outdoor play space where children can mix mud, water, leaves, flowers, sticks, and other natural materials to create imaginative recipes, potions, and all sorts of muddy masterpieces!

The Sabertooth students hope their project will encourage creativity, problem-solving, and imaginative play while helping younger children feel confident exploring the natural world without worrying about getting a little muddy.

It's fantastic to see students designing and creating something that will be enjoyed by the next generation of HALIO learners!

How did your mud kitchen look when you were younger?

Week 11: Taking the Leap

From leaps off the parachute tower to inspiring musical performances, student-led projects, and exciting new ideas taking shape across the school, it has been another great week at Halio.

We are continually impressed by the way our students challenge themselves, support one another, and take ownership of their learning, whether that's designing new rugby shirts, developing school initiatives, performing in front of an audience, or helping younger students.

Have a read through this week's newsletter to see what we've been up to, what students have been learning in Relationship Education, and what's coming up over the next few weeks:

Welcome to Week 11Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parent–Teacher Meetings last week. 🚀 Introducing Project Spotlight !

A new weekly feature where HALIO students share what they've been learning, creating, and discovering through their projects.

This Week... By Ping An

This Monday, the Silver Sharks team joined a project called Stories and Strokes! 🎨

We explored famous artists and art movements throughout history, including Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso, before creating our own original designs inspired by their work.

From our first sketches to finished paintings, we've been busy turning ideas into artwork that we're really proud of.

The best part? Our creations will be on display - and available to buy - at the End-of-Term Student Flea Market!

If you're interested in art, check out what we've made. We can't wait to share it with you! ✨

Week 8: Speed, Skill and Sportsmanship

Sports Week brought energy, teamwork, and plenty of friendly competition across all year groups. From Gaelic football and handball to swimming races, water polo, and student-designed challenges, the school was in constant motion.

A huge well done to all students for their effort, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship throughout the week, and congratulations to the Military Clovers for taking the overall win. Read the full recap and what's happening this week and beyond in our newsletter: https://wix.to/BzLOLdz
