To those being confused with how to get a license, worry no further! We are here to help! In this caption, information for application processes for getting a new license AND exchanging a new one will be provided.
But to those who feel like they might still need help, there will be! We provided a FORM and those who require the assistance, fill it out asap! Remember, it's FIRST COME FIRST SERVE!
Due to the time sensitivity and high volume of people, we do want to inform you that this form of assistance is for those who will be here during the summer break. However, there will be future rounds so don't worry if you will be travelling this summer! Just keep a look out for future announcements!
Now let’s take a look at the information!⬇️⬇️
Starting with the plan on how to obtain a new license(valid for 2 years), for either a car or a motorcycle…
Listed below are the required documentation (all original versions):
• Medical certificate for driver's license
➢ either from MFU medical center or private clinic (between 70-200 Baht)
➢ usually takes only 1 day
➢ valid for 30 days
• Certificate of Residency
➢ from Thailand Immigration
➢ Bring TM30 document for the request (for dorm accomodation, TM30 is not needed)
➢ takes 7 days
➢ valid for 30 days
• Copy of eligible visa stamp in passport AND original passport
+ Registration document available on 2nd floor of DLT building
Now after getting the documents, here is the overview of the process.
Process – Day 1:
1. Apply for online queue via DLT website
➢ waiting time is around 2 months
OR come early on theory days
➢ Monday, Wednesday and Friday
➢ around 7:30 AM
➢ limited to around 12 people per day
2. Fill out the registration document
3. Hand over ALL documents at the counter outside the main waiting room and
receive “ticket”
4. Give ticket and documents to staff inside the main waiting room
5. Wait until you are called by staff
6. Take 2 short physical exams
➢ reaction and side/corner eyesight
7. Listen to the 5-hour theory lesson
➢ available with English subtitles
8. After the theory lesson, take the theoretical test
➢ total of 50 questions, 45+ correct answers to pass
➢ test is available in several languages
9. If passed, book the time slot for the practical test on a different day
Process – Day 2:
1. Day 2 meeting point is the small building next to the practical exam area (behind
the main building)
2. Arrive in time with bike or car and ALL documents from Day 1.
➢ You can also rent a bike at the DLT food area across the practical exam
area.
3. Check out the course and look at the map (around 15 minutes)
4. Hand over your documents to the examiner and wait for your turn
5. Take the practical exam
6. After passing, take your documents back to the 2nd floor of DLT main building and
bring them to the payment counter
7. Pay for the license
➢ 205 Baht for car
➢ 150 Baht for bike
8. Take pictures with the staff and wait for your license
Now moving on to how to exchange a license(valid for 2 years), either for a car or a motorcycle…
