AcroDance is not simply about doing flips or becoming as flexible as possible.
In our AcroDance classes, we focus on body coaching, with core strength as the essential foundation. A strong core helps students control their movements, maintain balance, transfer weight correctly, and perform each skill with greater stability.
It is a common misconception that AcroDance training should focus mainly on helping children perform flips quickly or become extremely flexible. However, flexibility without sufficient strength and control may lead to incorrect alignment, unstable technique, and a higher risk of injury.
Before progressing to advanced skills, students need to develop:
• Core strength
• Shoulder, arm, back, and hip stability
• Balance and weight-transfer control
• Flexibility appropriate for their individual bodies
• Safe techniques for entering and exiting each movement
Our goal is not simply for students to “perform the skill.” We want them to perform it with strength, correct technique, confidence, and long-term safety.
Beautiful and stable acrobatic movements are not created by flexibility alone. They are built through strength, body awareness, and strong foundations. 🤍
