Asian Tribal Ministries

ATM from the onset of their Children of the Border project, has for over 30 years been humanitarian-based.

Venturing to many villages along the Thai-Burma border and to extreme remote areas which would otherwise be unreached. Giving food and clothing to orphanages, building schools and hospitals, providing medical supplies. ATM was on the ground with humanitarian aid when the massive natural disaster, Cyclone Nargis, hit the Irrawaddy Delta in 2008. From 2007, ATM has been actively involved in bringing

Peace and Development to the war-torn areas along the Thai-Burma border that have been ravaged by a war prolonged since 1949. ATM’s Discipleship Training School, in addition to their Bible Course, provides educational /vocational training workshops and opportunities for under-privileged young people from remote and tribal mountainous areas, whose future would otherwise be bleak with their only prospect being poverty, prostitution and/or drug abuse. ATM gives hope of a bright and positive future to the younger generation. ATM also offers an intensive course in Cross-Cultural Communications and a course in Leadership. When borders open once again, after CoVid-19 travel restrictions are lifted, ATM’s endeavours for Peace and Development in the Ethnic areas of Burma will be back in full-swing again.

A quick update on the water pump! 🙏

We’re still urgently needing to raise the funds to cover the repair costs. So far we’ve raised around AUD $400, which is an amazing start!

The technicians have repaired the pump but we are still needing the funds to pay for the repairs that have been done

🚨 URGENT NEED – WE NEED YOUR HELP!🚨

Today we’ve been hit with an unexpected emergency. The main water pump at our Asian Tribal Ministries (ATM) base has broken and needs to be replaced urgently.

This pump has served the base for many years, and although we’ve been able to repair it several times in the past, it’s now beyond repair. After having people come out to try and fix it, we’ve been told it needs to be replaced.

Without this pump, we have no reliable water supply for the base.

We are urgently needing to raise AUD $2,200 to purchase and install a replacement as soon as possible.

This cost includes replacing the pump, cleaning of the water system, and replacing the broken pipes.

We recently travelled to Mae La Noi to reconnect with some of ATM’s former students who are now serving God in their communities. It was so encouraging to see the work they’ve been doing. Praise God for all that He’s done through these faithful ones!

We are delighted to announce that Gabriel Laklem has officially come on board as Director of Asian Tribal Ministries.

A few words from Gabriel and his wife, Daphne:

We consider it a great privilege to be able to steward this ministry. Over the last 40 years, ATM has impacted countless lives for the sake of the Gospel, reaching especially the tribal communities in Thailand and Burma. ATM’s mission has always been to reach the unreached and to raise up disciples of Jesus Christ, and we now take this on with the same unwavering conviction as those who have come before us.

We want to honour the founders, Drs Timothy and Rebecca Laklem, whose faithful obedience to God has laid the groundwork for this, as well as all past Directors, whose dedication and service have carried the mission forward. We are deeply grateful to you and pray for God’s continued blessings over you.

Our desire is simply to please and glorify God. Whatever He may call us to do, we want our response to always be, “Yes and amen!” We know that this will not be easy, and so we seek your prayers and continued support as we learn and grow in this role. These are exciting times, and we look forward to sharing more updates in the coming months!
