Dear Carlo
Thank you for reminding the world that food is never just food.
Through your simple but powerful philosophy of Slow Food good, clean, and fair. you created something much bigger than a movement. You created a feeling of belonging for people who care about farmers, fishers, cooks, seeds, traditions, communities, and the future of our planet.
Because of you, small local communities like ours in Chiang Mai could feel connected to the rest of the world. Through your ideas, we learned that even a simple meal can become an act of care, resistance, love, and change.
You taught us that food takes time.Flavor takes patience. And that living slowly is not weakness it is a way of respecting life.
Many people may not know your name yet, but they already live inside your philosophy every day. when they support local farmers, when they cook for their family, when they protect biodiversity, when they choose kindness over convenience, and when they gather around a table to share food and stories together.
Your vision helped build a global network of people who believe another food system is possible one that respects both people and nature.
From the Slow Food community in Chiang Mai, Thailand, thank you for helping us see the value of our own food culture, our ingredients, and our communities.
Thank you for showing us that simple ideas can create global impact.
You may be gone, but your philosophy continues to live in our kitchens, our markets, our farms, and our hearts.
Rest in peace, Carlo. We will continue the work one meal, one farmer, one community at a time.
With love and gratitude,
Slow Food Community Chiang Mai
