𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

Moving to a new environment can be both exciting and challenging, requiring resilience, curiosity, and an open mind. Our CMIS Thai teachers warmly welcomed our new teachers with an introduction to the Thai language, a local food tour, a Chiang Mai city tour, and a Thai cooking class. Along the way, they also had the opportunity to get to know the people, traditions, and warm hospitality that make Chiang Mai such a special place to call home.

We hope the support of the CMIS community will help every newcomer settle into life in Chiang Mai smoothly and feel at home as they begin this new chapter.

In celebration of Thai Mother’s Day, our students took part in meaningful activities that combined creativity, gratitude, and Thai cultural learning.

Our elementary students created Mother’s Day cards, expressing their love and appreciation for their mothers and families through their own creative designs. Older students explored the traditional art of making phuang malai (พวงมาลัย), learning about the significance of jasmine garlands as a Thai symbol of love, respect, and gratitude.

Through these hands-on activities, students not only celebrated the spirit of Mother’s Day but also gained a deeper appreciation of Thai traditions, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. For our international students, it was a wonderful opportunity to experience Thai culture firsthand through creating, learning, and participating in traditions that continue to hold special meaning in Thai society. - 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘪 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵

CMIS has a longstanding tradition of beginning each school year with a worship service alongside The First Church of Chiang Mai, which is part of the Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT). This gathering is a time to give thanks to God and seek His blessings and guidance for the year ahead.

What a beautiful morning to welcome our Eagles back to campus! The first day of school is a time to reconnect, meet new friends, and look ahead to new goals for the 2026 - 27 school year.

As we begin the new year, CMIS has also introduced a new security protocol that includes random backpack checks to help ensure a safe and secure campus for everyone.

On behalf of the Chiang Mai International School community, including our board, administration, teachers, staff, students, and alumni, we extend our most sincere condolences on the passing of Michal Ann Turnbull Dobson.

Mrs. Dobson was an integral part of the CMIS story. Over more than twenty years with us, serving as a teacher, curriculum developer, and principal, she touched the lives of countless people through her dedication to education and her caring spirit. Her steady leadership helped shape CMIS into the school and caring community it is today.

Her passion for our school and her gentle, supportive presence left a mark on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her or learning in her classrooms. Her legacy of service and heart for our students will always remain a cherished part of CMIS.
