On April 24, 2026, the Elementary School’s Thai Department organized a traditional Rod Nam Dam Hua ceremony to celebrate Songkran. The event was held to express respect and gratitude to teachers and staff retiring this year, and to honor our Elementary teachers.

The atmosphere was warm and joyful, filled with smiles and meaningful interactions. Students took part in delightful performances, including a beautiful flower-scattering dance by the Thai Dace Club, which brought great joy to everyone in attendance.

This meaningful event not only celebrated Thai cultural traditions but also provided students with an opportunity to learn and practice the values of respect, gratitude, and appreciation for others.

Congratulations to our Grade 1 student on her participation in the Blackpool Junior Dance Festival 2026, held at the Winter Gardens Blackpool (Empress Ballroom) in Blackpool from 6–10 April.

She competed in the British Junior Solo Under-8 Jive category and proudly secured a placing. We hope this experience encourages our Eagle to continue pursuing her passion for dance and builds her confidence to embrace even more opportunities in the future.

Thank you to our CMIS families for sharing this wonderful news. The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival is a prestigious annual competition with a long-standing tradition dating back to the mid-20th century.

CMIS took a special delegation of students to Bangkok to attend the annual Thai Model United Nations Conference XIII on March 22, 2026. The event welcomed over 700 delegates, chairs, pages, and advisers from 69 schools from nine countries - Thailand, Japan, Nepal, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Myanmar, South Africa, and Malaysia. All student delegates participated tremendously well and should be immensely proud of their achievements.

A big congratulations to four CMIS students who came away from the conference with very prestigious awards:
Chase (G12): Best Delegate in HSOC
Adam (G11): Honorable mention in UNESCO
Otto (G11): Best Delegate in UNICEF
Ethan (G11): Honorable mention in ECOSOC

And a final extra special congratulations to Chase, who won a second, conference-wide award: Honorable Best Overall Delegate

We sincerely thank THAIMUN (thaimun.org) for generously sharing the photos.

Focus of the Month: 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆

Not everything we do will lead to success, and that is perfectly okay. What truly matters is what we learn along the way. Every challenge, every setback, and every moment of reflection shapes us and brings us one step closer to the goals we are working toward.

Resilience is the ability to bounce back after disappointment, to pick ourselves up, and to keep moving forward even when things feel difficult. It also means staying flexible when the future feels uncertain and finding the courage to accept the things that are beyond our control.

We are never alone in that journey. May this verse be a source of strength and comfort for us throughout this month and beyond:

"Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9

Last Friday, April 3rd, we celebrated the April Break with a joyful touch of the Songkran festival. Dr. Cherie, Head of School, and Kru Big, Deputy School Director for Academics, gave away jasmine flowers, wishing all CMIS staff happy holidays and expressing gratitude for their hard work and dedication to the school.

Elementary students enjoyed hands-on activities, creating colorful Tung Sai Moo and seasonal flower bouquets, using lemongrass to hold them together. This traditional local craft celebrates the beauty of flowers and the refreshing scents of the season, a perfect way to brighten the hot days of April.

Water play on a warm afternoon is always a delight when enjoyed with care and kindness. We hope our senior students had a wonderful time celebrating Songkran with their peers on the final day as well.

We hope the CMIS community is enjoying a restful break with family and loved ones. These two weeks offer a meaningful opportunity to recharge, reset, and take time for ourselves.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, April 20, for the second half of the semester.

After months of dedicated research, we are proud to share that Mr. Cameron has officially published his Silent Heroes profile on James Linton Robison. This project reflects a deep commitment to historical inquiry, storytelling, and bringing attention to individuals whose contributions deserve greater recognition.

Through this experience, Mr. Cameron gained a deeper understanding of both history and the research process our students engage in each year through National History Day.

Congratulations to Mr. Cameron on this outstanding accomplishment, and thank you to National History Day for your support throughout this process.

CMIS is honored to be part of delivering support from our community to the volunteers and firefighters at the Chiang Mai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, helping to get vital supplies to the front lines across the Northern Region.

We have witnessed the incredible dedication and selfless sacrifice of those who have fought tirelessly to protect our city from the wildfires and hazardous smoke that have threatened lives and health for years. And with air pollution still gripping the Northern Region, their work is far from over.

We hope these humble contributions from the CMIS community can help ease the strain, restore energy, and uplift the fighters on the frontlines. From all of us at CMIS, thank you for keeping us safe.

We were delighted to bring the whole school together for our Easter assembly on Friday, March 27. We learned about the meaning of Easter and why this occasion is so significant to Christianity and to our families. We reflected on sacrifice, the journey of learning through life and experiences, and why we should show kindness to one another and share joy with the world, so that it may be a safe and happy place for all.

We need to CANCEL our planned Easter Worship Night scheduled for this afternoon due to the high AQI levels.

We will try and reschedule for after the April break. For today, please see the links below to the songs we were going to play and the message we were going to share. We pray that you can still be encouraged by what the Lord laid on our hearts for today's event.

Dear CMIS Community,

As many of you know, our region is currently facing a serious wildfire emergency. In the mountains surrounding Chiang Mai, brave firefighters and local volunteers are working tirelessly around the clock to contain hotspots and protect our environment. In response to this difficult situation, our school is reaching out to support these heroes through our latest initiative: 𝐂𝐌𝐈𝐒 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬: 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥.

We recognize the importance of coming together to help those on the front lines. We invite everyone who can to bring essential supplies to the donation boxes. Your generosity will provide the vital "fuel" and protection these teams need to continue their efforts.

- First Aid & Relief: Eye drops (artificial tears), nasal wash/saline solution, balms (Tiger Balm/Counterpain), and N95 masks.

We assure you that our dedicated team will carefully organize and categorize all items before donating them to the Chiang Mai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office early next week.

We are deeply grateful for the strength of our community and the tireless efforts of our CMIS team in coordinating this drive. Your compassion for those protecting our home makes a meaningful difference during this difficult season.
