Asst. Prof. Dr. Duangporn Pichpol, Vice Dean for General Administration and Director of the Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), participated in the “Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony for the President, Former Presidents, and Senior Faculty Members of Chiang Mai University” on the occasion of the Lanna New Year 2026.
The ceremony was held on April 24, 2026, at the University Auditorium. On this occasion, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine joined the parade contest under the theme “Tai Lue Radiance and the Auspicious Golden Elephant”, as well as the Lanna traditional costume contest, reflecting the unique identity and beauty of local culture.
The event was gracefully organized in accordance with Lanna traditions, featuring vibrant processions from various faculties across the university. The program began with registration and parade formation, followed by a procession into the main ceremonial area.
Highlights of the event included the announcement and award presentation for the parade and traditional costume contests, followed by the Rod Nam Dam Hua ritual, where participants paid respect, presented ceremonial offerings, and received blessings from senior faculty members.
The ceremony concluded in a warm and auspicious atmosphere, with participants expressing respect and receiving blessings in accordance with tradition, followed by a shared refreshment session—symbolizing the strong unity and enduring bonds within the Chiang Mai University community.

On April 23, 2026, the Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre and PODD Center joined the traditional Rod Nam Dam Hua ceremony to pay respect and express gratitude to senior members and former deans of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, at the Novel Building conference room.
This meaningful Lanna tradition during the Songkran Festival reflects respect, humility, and appreciation, as younger generations offer scented water and receive blessings from elders. The ceremony also strengthens bonds across generations and brings together faculty, staff, and alumni in a warm and respectful atmosphere.

The meeting focused on advancing collaboration under the WOAH Collaborating Centre for Veterinary Services Capacity Building (Asia, the Far East, and Oceania), with the shared goal of strengthening veterinary services capacity at both national and international levels.
Key areas of cooperation include knowledge enhancement, academic and professional activities, and the expansion of collaborative networks among relevant organizations. This partnership aims to elevate veterinary standards, improve service efficiency, and support sustainable animal health and veterinary public health systems.

📌 VPHCAP Participated in the International Conference on Food Safety Risk Assessment
On 18–19 December 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Duangporn Pichpol, Director of the Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), participated in the International Conference on Chemical and Microbiological Risk Assessment for Food Safety.
The conference was co-organized by the National Institute for Food Control (NIFC) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), and held at the National Institute for Food Control, Hanoi, Viet Nam.
The conference provided a platform for experts and stakeholders to exchange knowledge and experiences on chemical and microbiological risk assessment, strengthening food safety systems, and enhancing regional and international collaboration.

The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation in the areas of veterinary public health, food safety, and the implementation of the One Health approach, as well as exploring opportunities for future joint activities and capacity-building initiatives at the regional level.
VPHCAP reaffirms its commitment to working closely with WOAH to strengthen partnerships and support sustainable development in veterinary public health and food safety across the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr. Chalita Jainonthee, representing the Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), Chiang Mai University, participated in the Workshop of the WOAH Platform for the Training of Veterinary Services, held at WOAH Headquarters in Paris, France, on 10–11 December 2025.
The workshop brought together WOAH Collaborating Centres from different regions to exchange experiences and contribute to the development of the WOAH competency-based training system, with discussions focusing on veterinary competencies, innovative learning technologies, digital platforms, and future directions for global capacity building.
Participation in this workshop reflects VPHCAP’s continued commitment, as a WOAH Collaborating Centre for Veterinary Services Capacity Building (Asia, the Far East and Oceania), to supporting WOAH Members through education, training, and innovation in veterinary public health.
