Little Thinkers, Big Questions

After today’s safety training and “Run, Hide, Fight” drill with our police officers, our students had some thoughtful reflections.

Davian was clearly taking his new safety knowledge very seriously as he volunteered to explain his understanding:

“First, we need to run.
Then we hide.
And finally… if really, really cannot, we need to fight the bad person.”

And then Shu A asked an excellent question:

“How do we know if the person knocking on our door to rescue is really the police, or if it’s the thief pretending to be the police?”

We love seeing our children not only listen and learn, but think, question and understand.

A reminder that safety education is about more than a drill, it’s about helping our children develop the confidence, awareness and thinking skills to respond safely.

A big thank you to the police officers for patiently teaching our children, answering their questions and helping us build a stronger culture of safety and preparedness at school.

Our Sincere Thanks to Mae Ping Provincial Police Station

Siriaunda School would like to express our sincere appreciation to the police officers from Mae Ping Provincial Police Station for kindly visiting our school to provide safety education and participate in the “Run–Hide–Fight” emergency response drill with our children, teachers, and school staff.

While we hope that our children will never have to face such a situation, we believe it is important to be prepared and to equip our school community with the knowledge and confidence to respond calmly and safely in an emergency.

This activity helped strengthen our knowledge, awareness, and preparedness, with particular consideration given to the children’s age and developmental needs.

We are very grateful for your knowledge, care, and support in promoting the safety and well-being of our children and the Siriaunda School community.

K1A Construction: Doll’s Furniture

Our builders continued developing their construction skills through our Doll’s Furniture activities. Using cubes, prisms, bricks, short boards, and half cubes, the children observed familiar structures and explored how different pieces could fit together to recreate them.

As they build, they are developing important life skills such as problem-solving, spatial awareness, planning, creativity, and persistence. They are learning to observe carefully, make decisions, adjust their ideas, and try different approaches when needed.

Through purposeful play, construction becomes an opportunity to build both practical skills and confidence in learning.

Learning Chinese with Joy and Creativity

In K3, Chinese learning focuses on speaking, reading, and writing Pinyin, helping children become more familiar and confident with the language. They are also introduced to Chinese characters in a fun and age-appropriate way.

Through activities, storybooks, storytelling, and art, children have the opportunity to learn, explore, and express their creativity.

Every Chinese lesson is filled with fun, curiosity, and meaningful learning. It is wonderful to see our K3 children develop a positive attitude towards Chinese and learn with enthusiasm.

Learning a language is not just about remembering words , it’s about enjoying the journey of learning.

Pre-K: Fine Motor Skills Development

Little Hands, Big Learning!

Our Pre-K children were busy caring for their little paper plants by cutting “leaves” with scissors and using their fingers to tear larger leaves into smaller pieces.

What looks like simple play is actually purposeful learning. These activities strengthen fine-motor control, hand-eye coordination, finger strength and dexterity and these activities ate important foundations for writing and everyday independence.

And the learning goes beyond the hands! Fine-motor activities require children to focus, plan, coordinate movements and solve problems, supporting the development of executive-function skills that are closely linked with the developing prefrontal cortex.

SAS Pre-K

At Siriaunda School, we believe every child is a capable, curious learner — and that learning should be joyful, meaningful and full of discovery.

K3 English: Starry, Starry Night

Our K3 children took part in an observational painting activity inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. They carefully observed the painting and did their best to imitate the colours, patterns, and different details they could see. Step-by-step instructions were also provided to guide them in painting the different parts of the artwork.

At first, many of the children were a little skeptical and said that they could not do it because the painting looked too challenging. However, they surprised themselves by persevering and successfully completing their own beautiful Starry Night paintings! We also added glow-in-the-dark paint to their artwork, and the children were absolutely amazed and excited to see their paintings glow.

SAS Pre-K Dramatic Play

We were introduced to the words “fire” and “firefighter” and talked about the important role of firefighters. The children then engaged in a firefighter dramatic play, pretending to be firefighters as they responded to the fire, worked together to put it out, and saved lives. The activity encouraged imagination, teamwork, communication, and confidence through hands-on pretend play.

SAS Reading

Listen to 2 of our students read with confidence, joy, and growing independence.

At Siriaunda School (SAS), we believe learning to read should be joyful, engaging, and empowering. Through our structured synthetic phonics programme, children learn sounds step by step, enabling them to blend words confidently and build strong foundations for reading.

In K2, students learn:
• 31 phonemes and 36 tricky words
• Up to 18 readers throughout the year

In K3, they continue to develop their skills with:
• 23 additional phonemes and 24 tricky words
• Up to 16 readers that further strengthen their fluency and confidence

Each child also has a “My Word Bank” book to record their progress and practise at home together with their families.

SAS Mother’s Day - K3

For Mother’s Day, our K3 Children created something special for their mums: personalised initial keychains made with resin, flowers, glitter and lots of love.

They had so much fun choosing their colours and decorations, carefully arranging each piece, pouring the resin and patiently waiting for their creations to dry. Seeing their little designs transformed into beautiful keychains filled them with such pride.

A little keepsake, made by tiny hands and filled with lots of love.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our wonderful mums. Thank you for being so loving, caring and supportive.
