Lina's Online Music Studio Piano Lessons sparking joy and love for music! Conservatory trained pianist with MA Degree in Music Education. Creative Learning & Exam Prep

I am an experienced Piano, Accordion, Music Theory, Ear Training and Solfege teacher with great passion for music and education. I hold a Master's Degree in Music Education and a Qualified Teacher Status in England and Wales. I use a variety of methods, adjusting my approach for each student individually. I believe that each student requires a different and individual approach, especially learning

such a creative subject as music! I always listen to what you need and where you're headed and I support you in the best and most effective way I know to get there and achieve your goals, while watering your artistic growth. My whole background supports this belief and gave me tools to professionally support your creative developement. I studied piano, piano improvisation, composition and music theory in the method of Emile Jaques Dalcroze, which is a very empowering, experience based approach to teaching music and musical instruments. It stems from the believe that we learn better when we can relate to the subject and when we feel and try the concept before understanding it. My experience gave me a great idea of different kinds of students and needs and taught me how to be flexible and find creative learning solutions for my students. I have over 10 years of experience as a piano and music teacher in different settings, including public and private music schools, ballet schools, pre-schools, primary and secondary public schools and private tutoring. I also taught band, improvisation and musical theater after school classes. I worked in several different countries including Poland, United Kingdom, Caribbean Islands and Vietnam and Thailand as well as online. Finally as music is my true passion, I am an active performer playing piano and accordion, and singing; performing solo, in duets and in bands. I constantly continue to develop my knowledge and teaching skills by attending masterclasses and courses, for example F. Chopin's methodology and technique, jazz pedagogy, improvisation in all styles but also behavioral management or teaching neurodiverse students, including students on the autistic spectrum.

Tip of the day! - Struggling with long pieces? 🧐

Try sectional practice: break your piece into small, overlapping chunks. Master each section thoroughly—especially the first and last—then gradually connect them. It’s faster learning than playing through from start to finish every time!

Why it works:
This method teaches efficient, focused practice, helping you avoid ingraining mistakes and build confidence section by section, which research confirms accelerates learning. ✨

Students generally spend at least 95% of their piano time alone, so I'm always thinking up practice strategies to make that time count.

Why 15 minutes long practice every day is better than once a week catch up? 🤔

It all has to do with how your brain processes new information and how it stores long term memory.

You can help your brain learn better by triggering its voluntary motor movements, procedural learning, habit learning, eye movements, cognition, and emotion regularly! 🧠

So go ahead, sit by your instrument and just ask yourself what do you feel like working on today for 15minutes?
- scales and arpeggios
- sight reading
- improvisation
- a part of a piece you're learning
- chord progressions
- transcription?

Doesn't matter what you choose, just practice every day! 🥳

Take a look at this original, contemporary piano playing!
Great for inspiration and reminder that exploration of the instrument is never ending!

Listening to a piece by Hauschka can be deceiving: What sounds like an ensemble of musicians and instruments is just one man, performing at one piano. His re...

Here's a video of a pure prepared piano jam with Jacob - no themes, no pieces interpreted, just instinct of creation.
Notice Jacob's custom steel hammer covers/overlay and his unique use of the above-tuning strings' part, which sound he described as "glass like". Such a cool observation! 🤩

Prepared Piano Week is definitely a fun week!!

This Sunday in our studio we have a acoustic experimental music night - LINA REJ x LUNA AVEM.
I'll be playing on my prepared piano and accordion, with Emma Exton on violin and guitar! If you're curious what can be done with acoustic instruments in terms of sound bending and unconventional use - come to see our explorations.

Piano is a magical instrument and should be explored to the fullest.
Prepared piano week incoming in the studio!

A prepared piano is a piano that has had its sounds temporarily altered by placing bolts, screws, mutes, rubber erasers, and/or other objects on or between the strings. Its invention is usually traced to John Cage's dance music for Bacchanale (c. 1938), created without room for a percussion orchestra.
