The Faculty of Nursing (FON) believes that nursing is an essential profession that contributes to the well-being of individuals at every stage of life and at all states of health. Care should be provided in partnership with individuals who have the right and responsibility to pursue a state of health that provides them with physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being. Nursing is a holistic and continual process of care that can treat illness and disease as well as promote health. The Chiang Mai University Faculty of Nursing is known for its leadership in building capacity within the region. The FON has helped to upgrade the academic credentials of teaching faculty from neighboring countries has and thereby strengthened nursing education in the region. The FON is routinely approached by the WHO, UN agencies, and national governments to provide technical assistance and training for nurses in the region.

🇹🇭 🇻🇳 NurseCMU Welcomes PhD Research Fellow from Vietnam
🟨 On Monday, September 21, 2026, Assistant Professor Dr. Suparat Wangsrikhun, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University (NurseCMU), welcomed Dr. Ngo Thi Dung, Deputy Head of Department, Department of Surgical and Basic Nursing, Faculty of Nursing and Medical Technology, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam, at the Dean’s Office Meeting Room, Building 4.
🟨 Dr. Ngo Thi Dung has joined the PhD Research Fellows Program, a postdoctoral research program at NurseCMU, for one year, from September 15, 2026, to September 14, 2027. Her research focuses on integrating Evidence-Based Practice into undergraduate nursing education, under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Nethong Namprom, Associate Dean.
🟨 Her participation in the program supports academic exchange, research development, and collaboration between NurseCMU and international academic institutions.

🔳 Welcoming Faculty Members and Graduate Students from Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, People’s Republic of China
▪️◾️ On Wednesday, 16 September 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Phanida Juntasopeepun, Associate Dean, and Assistant Professor Dr. Preeyakamon Krikitrat, Assistant Dean, Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, welcomed faculty members and graduate students from the School of Nursing, Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of their participation in the Study Visit Program at the Wilawan Senaratana Conference Room, Building 4, Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University.
▪️◾️ The Study Visit Program is being held from 15-25 September 2026 with the aim of promoting academic collaboration between the two institutions and providing participants with an opportunity to learn about Thailand’s healthcare system. The program also seeks to enhance participants’ experiences and further develop their professional competencies.

🔹🔷 Closing Ceremony of the Study Visit Program for Faculty Members and Students from Shantou University Medical College, People’s Republic of China
🔹 Associate Professor Dr. Phanida Juntasopeepun, Associate Dean, and Assistant Professor Dr. Preeyakamon Krikitrat, Assistant Dean, Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, joined the closing and evaluation session of the Study Visit Program and congratulated faculty members and undergraduate and graduate students from the Department of Nursing, Shantou University Medical College, People’s Republic of China, upon the completion of their study visit. The closing session was held on Friday, 11 September 2026, at the Wilawan Senaratana Conference Room, 4th Building, Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University.
🔹 The Study Visit Program was held from 6-12 September 2026 with the aim of promoting academic collaboration between the two institutions and providing participants with opportunities to learn about Thailand’s healthcare system. The program also aimed to enrich participants’ learning experiences and enhance their professional competencies in nursing.

👩‍🏫 Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University Hosts Special Lecture by Associate Professor Dr. Satoko Horii from Toho University, Japan
▶️ September 10, 2026 — The Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, hosted a special lecture entitled “Midwifery Education in Japan” on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The lecture was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Satoko Horii from the Department of Global Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Toho University, Japan. The event attracted faculty members, nursing students, nurses, and healthcare professionals, who participated both onsite at the Wilawan Senarat Meeting Room, Building 4, and online.
▶️ During the lecture, Dr. Horii shared valuable insights into Japan’s midwifery and nursing education system, highlighting educational approaches that prepare healthcare professionals to provide high-quality maternal and nursing care. She also discussed Japan’s comprehensive healthcare system and interdisciplinary strategies for addressing the challenges of a rapidly aging society through holistic care.
▶️ The session concluded with an engaging discussion and exchange of perspectives on the role of nursing education and international collaboration in strengthening healthcare systems and promoting sustainable quality of life across aging populations.

🔲 NurseCMU Welcomes Visiting Faculty Member from Toho University, Japan
◼️ Associate Professor Dr. Phanida Juntasopeepun, Associate Dean, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Preeyakamon Krikitrat, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, welcomed Associate Professor Dr. Satoko Horii from the Department of Global Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Toho University, Japan, during her visit to the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, from September 9-10, 2026.
◼️ The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange academic perspectives and discuss future collaboration, with particular emphasis on potential joint research related to climate change and the health of older people. During her visit, Dr. Horii also visited the Nursing Learning Unit (NLU) and the CMU Nurse-Led Clinic, learned about community-based integrated care in Thailand, and shared her expertise with faculty members and students through a special lecture on global aging and nursing education.
