This week we are learning about earthworms and in this photo we are learning about the parts of an earthworm. ⁣
⁣
Did you know that the presence of earthworms is a good indication of a healthy soil system!? They provide nutrients to soil, allowing plants to grow strong and healthy. ⁣

The soil at our school is home to many of these wiggly friends 👌⁣

These beautiful handmade paperweights were molded and painted by our crafty Lower Elementary students! 🌸🔖⁣

Today our Upper Elementary class harvested sweet potatoes from our school’s organic garden. ⁣
They then invited Kindergarten to help make Bua Loy from our sweet potatoes, sticky rice flour and coconut milk. The result was a tasty Friday afternoon treat, which was even more satisfying as we picked the ingredient with our own hands 🥰⁣

Early this year we planted papaya seeds in our school garden and this beauty is the first fruit borne from the tree 🥳. It’s as tasty as it looks! ⁣

We give thanks for even the small blessings of 2020! 🙏💪⁣

Arithmetic operations with the Golden Beads allow students to value the science of Mathematics and the connectivity of it all. ⁣
⁣
For example, we use two 10-bars to show that 10 + 10 = 20 means the same as 2 x 10 = 20. ⁣
⁣
⁣

We are learning the value of building from beginning to end. Not only laying the first brick, but also knowing how to build the bricks ourselves! 🧱💪⁣

We are celebrating Loy Krathong Festival with all hands onboard. Parents, teachers and students worked together in making beautiful Krathongs in honour of the Thai Goddess of Water... with the use of eco-friendly materials of course 😁⁣⁣

Each student dedicated their time and effort to showcasing the essence of their country and more importantly they had a wonderful time doing it! From Kindergarten to Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary, WELL DONE! ⁣

We are on the beloved topic of 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 🌎. From the continent song, to the globes and puzzles, our students just love learning about our Earth! ⁣⁣⁣

Today we enjoyed using the Continent Puzzle Map as it shows the proportions of the continents and the colours help students to remember where each continent is located. ⁣⁣⁣

Our classrooms have a 3-year cycle for example our Lower Elementary class consists of ages 6-9. One of the many benefits of this is it allows the older students to become mentors to their younger peers and learn very valuable life lessons. ⁣
⁣
Here our Grade 3 student practices leadership, patience and empathy by mentoring her Grade 1 classmate on “Sight Words”. ⁣
