🟠𝙺𝚎𝚢 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚒𝚋𝚞𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜:
This research has shown that bagged growth media formulated from rather sandy tropical soils of low fertility status and only composted poultry manure cannot support sustainable production of root vegetable crops, until the topsoil becomes partially substituted with composted highly carbonated and difficultly decomposed biowaste such as rice husk. However, not every topsoil-biowaste mixing ratio is effective, just as some of the ensuing media can potentially increase foliage yield of a given root crop variety more than its root yield and vice versa in another variety.
The findings of this research can be implemented by developing customized potting mixes for carrot cultivation for specific areas, promoting proper recycling strategies for organic waste, increasing farmers’ awareness on sustainable vegetable farming, guiding crop variety selection, adopting long-term soil management practices, and encouraging further research

🟤𝙺𝚎𝚢 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚒𝚋𝚞𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜:
• Biodigestate application improved soil fertility and maize growth compared to the control.
• The year 2022 had better soil chemical properties and higher yields than 2023.
• In 2023, applying 2500 and 5000 L ha⁻¹ of biodigestate increased grain yield by 13.43% and 20.92%, respectively, relative to the control, highlighting its residual effect.
• Integrating biodigestate with NPK fertilizers enhanced yields more than their individual applications, ensuring a balanced nutrient supply.
• The highest yield was achieved with 5000 L ha⁻¹ biodigestate combined with N1P1K1.
• Its integration with NPK fertilizers offers a viable strategy for sustainable maize production.
