🏠 ห้องเรียนส่งเสริมความสามารถด้านการอ่านและทักษะการคิด
เมื่อได้ยินคำว่า Gakken Classroom แล้วคุณนึกถึงอะไร ใช่สถานที่ที่ลูกของคุณจะเรียนรู้วิชาคณิตศาสตร์จากครูผู้สอนหรือเปล่า หรือว่าเป็นสถานที่ที่ลูกของคุณจะได้รับการฝึกฝนให้คิดเลขเร็ว คำตอบที่ถูกต้องนั้นไม่ใช่ทั้งคู่ ความจริงแล้วที่นั่นเป็นห้องเรียนที่เราจะส่งเสริมทักษะการเรียนรู้ให้กับเด็ก ๆ เพื่อทำให้พวกเขาสามารถ “คิดด้วยตนเอง”
ที่ Gakken Classroom เด็กจะต้องอ่านคำอธิบายและคำถามด้วยตนเองก่อนที่จะเริ่มทำโจทย์ปัญหา ซึ่งแบบฝึกหัดคณิตศาสตร์ของเราได้ออกแบบมาให้มีคำอธิบายอย่างละเอียด เพราะฉะนั้นเด็กจะเข้าใจโจทย์ปัญหาได้ก็ต่อเมื่อ อ่านโจทย์คำต่อคำอย่างละเอียดรอบคอบ ในขณะเดียวกัน ครูผู้สอนของเราก็จะชี้แนะระหว่างที่พวกเขากำลังตั้งใจได้มากเท่าที่จะไม่เป็นการแทรกแซงการพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านของลูก ๆ คุณและ “ทักษะการคิดด้วยตนเอง” ของพวกเขา
ในห้องเรียนของเราเมื่อไม่นานมานี้ มีเด็กคนหนึ่งถามครูของเขาเพราะไม่เข้าใจว่าจะแก้โจทย์ปัญหาคณิตศาสตร์อย่างไร แทนที่จะบอกคำตอบกับเด็ก ครูผู้สอนก็จะให้กำลังใจด้วยการบอกเด็กว่า “อ่านโจทย์พร้อมกันนะ” หลังจากที่ได้อ่านโจทย์พร้อมกับครูแล้ว เด็กคนนี้ก็พอใจและบอกว่า “ตอนนี้ผมเข้าใจแล้ว ผมทำเองได้” แล้วเขาก็กลับไปทำโจทย์ด้วยตัวเอง แม้ว่าบางครั้งครูจะให้คำอธิบายมากกว่านี้ แต่ก็จะทิ้งโจทย์บางส่วนให้เด็กได้ลองแก้ไขเองอยู่เสมอ
การเรียนรู้ด้วยตนเอง โดยการทำความเข้าใจกับเนื้อหาโจทย์และเรียนรู้ผ่านการลองผิดลองถูกซ้ำ ๆ เป็นหนึ่งในทักษะที่สำคัญต่อชีวิตเรา ไม่เพียงแค่ในวิชาคณิตศาสตร์หรือวิชาอื่นในโรงเรียนเท่านั้น แต่ยังสำคัญในสถานการณ์ต่าง ๆ อีกด้วย ที่ Gakken Classroom เราจึงส่งเสริม “ทักษะการอ่าน” ของเด็ก ๆ ซึ่งเป็นรากฐานของ “ทักษะการคิดด้วยตนเอง” ควบคู่กันไปด้วย
【A classroom to foster reading and thinking abilities】
What do you have in mind when you heard about Gakken Classroom? Is it a place where your child can learn about maths from teachers? Or is it a place where your child can be trained to solve maths problems quickly? The right answer is neither. It is actually a classroom where we foster children’s learning abilities so that they can “think on their own”.
In Gakken Classroom, children are conditioned to read the explanations and the questions on their own before they are allowed to move on to the next problem. Our maths worksheets are designed to have detailed explanations so that children can understand the problem by reading the text word-by-word carefully. Likewise, our Instructors are conditioned to give advice while paying attention so as not to interfere with the growth of your child's ability to read and their “ability to think on their own".
A little while ago in one of our classrooms, there was a child who asked his Instructor because he did not know how to solve a maths story problem. Instead of giving the answer, the Instructor encouraged this child by telling him "Let's read the problem aloud together!". After just reading the problem together with the Instructor, this child was satisfied and said, "Now I understand! I can do it myself!". He then went back to do the problem. Although sometimes the Instructor gives a more detailed explanation, he always makes sure to leave some parts for the children to solve on their own.
Learning by understanding the contents of the text and through repeated trial-and-error on our own is one of the most important skills in our life, not only for maths or other school subjects, but also in other settings. In Gakken Classroom, we also foster children's "ability to read", which is the foundation for their “ability to think on their own".
