SPE หรือ Society of Petroleum Engineers เป็นกลุ่มองค์กรที่รวบรวมวิศวกร นักวิชาการและนักวิจัยที่เกี่ยวกับงานด้านสำรวจ การผลิตน้ำมันและแก๊สธรรมชาติ
ซึ่งแน่นอนว่าจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยเป็นเพียงไม่กี่มหาวิทยาลัยในประเทศไทยที่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งในองค์กรนี้ 🙌🏼

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a global professional organization uniting engineers, academics, and researchers in the field of oil and gas exploration and production. Chulalongkorn University is among the few universities in Thailand to be part of this distinguished network.

💡 During the orientation, participants will be introduced to the organization, its benefits, and the application process. This session will also provide valuable insights into how joining SPE can support your academic and professional development.

We are happy to share that the Society of Petroleum Engineers Thailand Section will offer scholarships to Thai bachelor students from any major who want to join the petroleum exploration and production industry. Interested students need to be an SPE member before applying for this scholarship. อยากทำงานบนแท่นปิโตรเลียม ต้องเรียนอะไร (ตำแหน่งในสายงานขุดเจาะและผลิต) 👷‍♂️👷

🏗งานบนแท่นปิโตรเลียมนั้น มิใช่ว่าทุกตำแหน่งจะต้องเป็นผู้ที่เรียนด้านวิศวกรรมศาสตร์สาขาปิโตรเลียม เท่านั้น เพราะภารกิจและหน้าที่ของแต่ละตำแหน่งก็แตกต่างกันออกไป โดยงานบนแท่นปิโตรเลียมนั้น มี 2 ลักษณะหลักๆ คือ 1.งานด้านการขุดเจาะและผลิต 2.งานสนับสนุนด้านอื่นๆ
ในครั้งนี้มารู้จักสายงานขุดเจาะ และผลิตกันก่อนว่ามีตำแหน่งงานใดบ้าง หากต้องการทำงานในตำแหน่งดังกล่าวจะต้องเรียนด้านไหน หรือจบอะไร

1.นักธรณีวิทยาประจำแท่นขุดเจาะ จะต้องเรียนธรณีวิทยา หรือธรณีฟิสิกส์
2.ทีมขุดเจาะ ต้องเรียนวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ ( ปิโตรเลียม เครื่องกล ไฟฟ้า เหมืองแร่ และโยธา )
3.ทีมผลิต จะต้องเรียนวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ ( ปิโตรเลียม ปิโตรเคมี ไฟฟ้า หรือเครื่องกล )
4.ทีมช่าง จะต้องเรียนช่างอุตสาหกรรม (ช่างยนต์ ช่างไฟฟ้า ช่างกลโรงงาน ช่างอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ หรือช่างเครื่องมือวัด ) หรือเรียนวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ (เครื่องกล และไฟฟ้า)

สำหรับน้อง ๆ ที่เรียนจบ ม.3 หรือ ม.6 จะต้องเรียนต่ออะไร เพื่อมาทำงานบนแท่นปิโตรเลียมได้ วันนี้มีคำตอบมาฝากกัน

หากเรียนจบ ม.3 แล้ว จะต้องเรียนต่อ ม.ปลาย สายวิทย์-คณิต หรือเรียนต่อ ปวช.ช่างอุตสาหกรรม เช่น ช่างยนต์ ช่างไฟฟ้า ช่างอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ ช่างกลโรงงาน เป็นต้น แต่หากเรียนจบ ม.6 จะต้องเรียนต่อปริญญาตรี วิศวกรรมศาสตร์ ( ปิโตรเลียม ปิโตรเคมี เครื่องกล ไฟฟ้า เครื่องมือวัด ) วิทยาศาสตร์เคมี หรือเรียนต่อ ปวส.ช่างยนต์ ช่างไฟฟ้า ช่างอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ ช่างกลโรงงาน ช่างเครื่องมือวัด เป็นต้น และสิ่งสำคัญคือ ทักษะด้านการสื่อสาร โดยเฉพาะภาษาอังกฤษ จะต้องสามารถสื่อสารได้อย่างเข้าใจในงานที่รับผิดชอบได้เป็นอย่างดี

[Data Science in Oil and Gas industry by Petroleum engineer]

We are thrilled to report the success of our recent experience sharing event titled "Data Science in Oil and Gas Industry by Petroleum Engineer." The event was held on March 23rd, 2023, from 16.30-18.30 and was attended by over 20 students from Petroleum Engineering and Geology, as well as members of our student chapter.

The event featured a lecture by K'Monthep Parimontonsakul, a former SPE CU Student Chapter President and Reservoir Engineer from Chevron. He provided valuable insights into the potential applications of data science in the oil and gas industry, focusing on machine learning and ChatGPT!!

K'Monthep shared his experiences and expertise in the field, providing attendees with practical examples of how data science is used in the oil and gas industry, including how machine learning can help optimize production and increase efficiency.

The lecture was followed by a Q&A session, where attendees had the opportunity to ask K'Monthep questions and delve deeper into the topic.

Overall, the event was a great success, and we are grateful to K'Monthep for sharing his time and expertise with us. We hope that this lecture series has equipped attendees with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving data-driven landscape of the petroleum industry.

[Career Path & Experience Sharing by Rookie Petroleum Engineers and Geologists]

We are excited to share the success of our recent event, "Career Path & Experience Sharing by Rookie Petroleum Engineers and Geologists", held on 21st March 2023. The insightful presentations by our esteemed speakers, including two former SPE CU student chapter presidents, two top-class petroleum engineering alumni, and a geologist, attracted over 40 engineering students from various departments such as petroleum, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering.

Our speakers shared their invaluable knowledge and personal experiences, highlighting challenges faced by entry-level professionals, the skills and knowledge required for success, and the importance of collaboration between geologists and petroleum engineers. They also provided practical advice for students interested in pursuing petroleum engineering or geology careers.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our speakers and the two engineers on call who answered questions about the Engineering career challenge project. Your incredible contributions have significantly impacted the students who participated in the lectures.

The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, offering attendees a unique opportunity to network with industry professionals and build connections to benefit their future careers. We look forward to hosting more such events in the future to continue fostering growth and learning in the dynamic field of petroleum engineering and geology.
