Currently because of the COVID situation, I am teaching from home and with a reduced schedule. I am therefor free to have private students. I can be available almost everyday from 4 pm to 8 pm. A to Z Room currently no longer has this location. We are now either available in your home or mine, whichever is more convenient. However, we are offering online learning which has the benefit of safety, time, affordability, and still achieves the aim of teaching English. Via ZOOM, FB messenger, and possibly other platforms, English can be taught to children as young as 5 years old with the assistance of a parent. Older students will still need a parental chaperone.
A to Z room uses very fun and effective online content to achieve it's aims while having the benefit of face to face instruction and teacher's correction in pronunciation using American English. "Getting back to normal" = an expression that says things are beginning to be the way it used to be day in and day out. A pattern we practice and are used to doing on a daily routine basis.
So I hope everyone is starting to get back to normal and you are all healthy and well. On that note, we are still not back to normal with regards to school. I would like to say to all my students and or parents, during this crisis and long extended summer break, please don't neglect to do some studying for English. I realize signing up for an online tutor is an added expense that many can't afford now but there is so much free material online for your children to keep up their studies with. A lot of it is fun and even interactive. Online dictionaries also have audio for practicing pronunciation. As much as I would like to be teaching right now, I understand your situation. I highly recommend British Council.com website, Lanternfish ESL, English Club.com and a bunch of others. I hope and pray this will be over sooner than expected. I am posting this again as I think idioms are an important aspect to the English language. The list of idioms is practically endless and each has a use. Memorizing or learning them in and of themselves doesn't help you to become a more fluent English speaker. Knowing when to use them or recognize them in music, film and catching it in everyday conversation is the goal. By learning the idioms and then hearing them said in TV shows, film or music, you can then start to enjoy these forms of entertainment in English better. It's also showing you the situations they get used in. I often see a TV show or film or hear a song that uses idioms I just got done teaching about to student of mine.
