Ludwig van Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61 (1806)

“I was not far from ending my own life, only art, only art held me back.”

This confession from The Heiligenstadt Testament, Beethoven’s 1802 letter to his brothers, reveals the despair he faced upon realizing his hearing loss was irreversible.

Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major transforms personal difficulty into radiant beauty. Its seamless balance of virtuosity and introspection redefines the concerto, elevating it from a display of skill to a profound artistic statement. Over two centuries later, its purity, serenity, and humanity continue to resonate as a testament to Beethoven’s enduring faith in art’s redemptive power.

We are thrilled to introduce our soloist, perform one of the greatest concertos ever written for the instrument, by our virtuosic soloist and violin professor, Sittichai Pengcharoen.

The Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra (PYO) wishes to express its deepest condolences on the passing of Assistant Professor Colonel Choochart Pitaksakorn, National Artist in the Performing Arts (Western Music).

A renowned violinist, violist, and distinguished expert in Western music, he played a pivotal role in driving and developing Thai classical music over the past several decades.

A Legacy of Dedication, he was a teacher and musician brimming with talent and determination, who dedicated himself to laying a solid foundation for the classical music scene in Thailand. His work and devotion have become a crucial foundation for his students and colleagues to uphold, passing this inspiration on to subsequent generations.

สถาบันดนตรีกัลยาณิวัฒนาขอแสดงความอาลัยต่อการจากไปของผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ พันเอกชูชาติ พิทักษากร ศิลปินแห่งชาติ สาขาศิลปะการแสดงด้านดนตรีสากล นักไวโอลิน นักวิโอลา และผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิด้านดนตรีสากล ผู้มีบทบาทสำคัญในการผลักดันและพัฒนาดนตรีคลาสสิกไทยตลอดหลายทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา

ท่านเป็นครูและนักดนตรีผู้เปี่ยมด้วยความสามารถและความมุ่งมั่น ผู้อุทิศตนให้กับการสร้างพื้นฐานที่มั่นคงให้แก่วงการดนตรีคลาสสิกของประเทศไทย ผลงานและความทุ่มเทของท่านเป็นรากฐานสำคัญให้ศิษย์และผู้ที่เคยร่วมงานกับท่านยึดถือ และส่งต่อแรงบันดาลใจนี้ไปยังรุ่นต่อรุ่น
