We are pleased to invite you to the HUST–KU International Symposium 2026, co-organized by Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and GSGES, Kyoto University.

Date: October 7–8, 2026
Venue: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi, Vietnam, and online
Theme: Adapting Societies to a Changing Climate: Synergizing Strategies in ASEAN and Japan

The main symposium will be held on October 7, followed by a study tour on October 8. Participation in the symposium is free of charge, and both in-person and online participation are available. Please note that a separate participation fee will be required for the study tour.

In addition to general participation, we warmly invite you, your students, and your colleagues to submit research posters. Posters from a wide range of academic fields are welcome, even when the research topic is not directly related to the main theme of the symposium.

Rigorous Best Poster Award Evaluation
The Best Poster Awards are a major feature of this symposium. All poster presentations will undergo a rigorous and structured evaluation by faculty members from participating universities.

Each poster presentation will be evaluated according to the following four criteria:

Significance and novelty of the research
Clarity and structure of the poster
Relevance of the results and discussion
Effectiveness of the oral presentation, including presentation skills, clarity, and interaction with the audience
The final score will combine the pre-symposium evaluation of the submitted poster and the evaluation of the short oral presentation on the day of the symposium.

The top 10% of eligible posters will receive Best Poster Awards. The awards are open to students and early-career researchers who are under 40 years of age as of October 7, 2026.

After the symposium, each poster presenter will be informed of their evaluation score. The poster session therefore provides an excellent opportunity to present research internationally and receive a structured academic evaluation from faculty members at participating universities.

October 6: Registration deadline for online participants
