Sarah Mercer is Professor of Foreign Language Teaching at the University of Graz, Austria, where she is Head of ELT methodology. Her research interests include all aspects of the psychology surrounding the foreign language learning experience. She is currently vice-president of the International Association for the Psychology of Language Learning (IAPLL).

Antonia Clare is a teacher, trainer, international conference speaker and author. She is currently a freelance writer and consultant trainer with NILE. Her latest publication is The Creative Teacher’s Compendium – An A-Z guide of creative activities for the language classroom, published by Pavilion ELT.

“Worth the Risk: Decent(e)ring Whiteness in English Language Teaching” is a discussion focused on Gerald’s 2020 article in the BC TEAL journal and its implications for the field of language education. It begins with a short presentation on important terminology regarding racism and whiteness, moves into the arguments about how to decenter whiteness in the field of language teaching, and will be followed by a question and answer session.

2. Job Description:
- Teach English for high school students from grade 6 to grade 12.

3. Working time:

- Able to prepare teaching materials according to advanced and standard professional requirements.
- Good pedagogical skills and pronunciation.

- Innovative and dynamic, able to work in a group, and possess a convincing appearance.

Hi everyone!

Greetings from International Gateway Kelowna, Canada.

Here are some quick updates on our school and programs for 2020.

In January we have the following programs available:

Full and part-time Practical ESL starting weekly for ages 14 and up.
Executive ESL with 1 hour of private tutoring daily starting weekly for ages 14 and up.
Business English Certificate – 8 weeks Starting January 20th for ages 19 and up.
Online TESOL Certificate – 8 weeks starting January 13th for ages 19 and up
Volunteer Placements – 2, 4 , 8 and 12 weeks starting weekly for ages 16 and up – (volunteer placements are unavailable from February 1-March 15, 2020 during our peak spring season)
High School Pathways – 5 to 24 weeks starting weekly for ages 12 to 18 – IGK has 9 students in partner high schools this fall and already some bookings for September 2020.
Adult Camps
Senior Program for ages 50+ - Starting January 20th for 1 or 2 weeks
Youth Camps
High School Experience for ages 12 to 18 starting weekly from January 20 for 1 to 8 weeks
Winter Youth Vacation Program for ages 8 to 18 starting weekly for groups of 8 or more for 1 or 2 weeks

Teaching Jobs Available:

Two Primary Years Homeroom Teachers
Experienced teachers with a strong background in facilitating the development of students whilst providing pastoral care. The teacher should:
- Possess a BA or BSc degree plus teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE) or a BEd degree
- Native English Speaker
- Two (2) years of teaching experience in an international school setting
- Ability to work with a team and with minimum supervision when working individually.
Successful candidates will be offered a competitive salary, work permit, visa assistance, medical insurance through the Thai gov’t Social Security and approximately 10 weeks paid holidays after probation.
