🎉 We are pleased to announce that Dr. Pitchaya Rayothee, Asst. Prof. Dr. Manunchaya Samala, and Assoc. Prof. Gulapar Srisawasdi have contributed as the first and corresponding author, and co-authors, respectively, to the newly published research article:
🩻 “Scoliosis Casting System: Apparatus Design, Procedural Implementation, and Force Magnitude Measurement for Trunk Postural Correction in Scoliosis Patients”
This research develops a novel multi-planar scoliosis casting apparatus and force-measuring system to calculate the biomechanical forces applied during spinal orthosis casting in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis. The system demonstrated that it can effectively assist orthotists during casting and successfully measure force magnitude. Findings reveal that the optimal correction requires lower forces than passive bracing correction, suggesting its potential to facilitate active patient self-correction.

🦵🏻“The biomechanical effects of 3D-printed ankle-foot orthosis in individuals with unilateral foot drop”

This study demonstrates how a novel 3D-printed ankle-foot orthosis (3D-AFO) enhances gait mobility by improving walking speed, restoring ankle kinematic symmetry, and providing more user comfort than barefoot walking. The article also highlights 3D printing as a clinically effective alternative to traditional thermoplastic orthoses in rehabilitative care.

🚶🏻“Evaluation of the biomechanics of lower limbs in normal, overweight, and obese people using the SMART F-IMU system”

This study provided a pilot evaluation of the SMART F-IMU, a wearable tracking system that combines inertial measurement units with flexible force sensors, to investigate weight-related gait variations. 🦶🏼 “Design and Mechanical Evaluation of a Polymer Keel SACH Foot Using Finite Element Analysis and Experimental Validation”
This study presents the development of a polymer-based keel SACH foot as a low-cost alternative to conventional wooden-keel designs. Using finite element analysis and experimental validation under ISO 10328 loading conditions, the optimized design demonstrated reduced deformation, lower stress concentration, and a higher safety factor than other configurations. The results suggest that polymer-based keels may offer improved structural stiffness, mechanical consistency, and reliability while maintaining cost-effectiveness for prosthetic foot applications.
