MasterTalk has one unique goal - to overcome your fear of public speaking so that you can use your voice to better communicate your ideas to the world.

Let's work together and master your talk.

THANK YOU FOR 50,000 SUBSCRIBERS!

I started making videos on social media in 2019 to inspire the world to communicate better.

It's crazy that 6 years later, I'm half way to the 100k mark. Consistency pays off for sure.

It's funny how I'm sitting in a room on my last day in Bangkok, Thailand as I'm writing this after being in Southeast Asia for 5-6 weeks.

I never thought I could have this life where I can just travel the world & coach my awesome clients while I explore what's out there.

Live life on your own terms. Unapologetically. I'm glad I learned that lesson early, and I hope you do the same too in your life. Keep doing amazing things. Life's too short to do anything else. :)

Onward and upward to 100k! 🩶

I Finally Own the Trademark to MasterTalk!!! 👇🏼

👉🏼 After almost a year of going back and forth with the US Trademark Office, my incredible lawyers (Joey Vitale) at Indie Law were able to secure the official trademark documentation for MasterTalk. I now own the name which is really exciting.

🔥 Kind of crazy right?

When I look back to posting my first YouTube video in January 2019, I never would’ve expected MasterTalk to turn into such a successful coaching & media business. If there’s anything I’ve learned from this 3 year journey (and 6 years coaching communication to others), it’s that when you do crazy things, you tend to attract crazy opportunities & friendships along the way.

I went from some kid in a basement where a friend randomly thought of this name for me, to having lawyers from the US & Canada making sure I own the rights to MasterTalk, having a successful coaching practice and having the reach that the YouTube channel has. If this crazy guy could go on to work on all these cool projects and quit his corporate job, imagine what you could do!

If you have that crazy idea, take the chance. Work on it, explore, you never know what will happen. I also want to give special thanks to Joey Vitale (my trademark lawyer in the US) and his team at Indie Law, for once, I can say that it’s been an absolute pleasure working with lawyers, his group is INCREDIBLE, could not recommend them highly enough.

I also want to give a shoutout to Tony Whatley. If it wasn’t for his post about the horrors that he went through getting 365Driven’s trademark that he posted a year ago, I probably wouldn’t have taken this legal risk seriously, so thanks for your push brother.

What crazy idea are you working on? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy New Year! + Reflecting on 2021 👇🏼

👉🏼 “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Steve Agyei. As I reflect on this wonderful year, I wanted to share with all of you my 3 biggest wins because most of us, especially me, focus too much on what we need to accomplish next vs. what we already have. 😊

🔥 🔥 🔥 Here are 3 biggest wins this year.

🔥 Leaving my corporate job to pursue MasterTalk full time.

Leaving an amazing job early in life to pursue a dream is not easy, and I spent months pondering over it, but I’m glad I made the leap. Did very well in business this year, the YouTube channel has over 18,000 subscribers now and I’ve worked with some incredible companies + clients like Salesforce, Marsh McLennan, and the list goes on. Grateful.

🔥 Meeting + building strong friendships with WORLD class individuals.

I could spend an entire day tagging everyone I’ve had the chance to work with and building strong friendships with like Vamsi Polimetla, Billy Samoa Saleebey, Sam Kamani, David Bryan, Paul Zelizer, Jonaed Iqbal, and so forth, but really the big win here, was spending all the hours meeting such amazing people whether it was through my time on Clubhouse, in-person meetups or Zooms, I would not be where I am today without my relationships. You all mean the world to me.

🔥 Welcoming my niece to the world, Alora + spending more time with family.

This is a big deal for the family. Out of all of my parents’ kids (and their siblings), my cousin Nivetha is the oldest (I’m the second oldest), and she just welcomed her first daughter Alora a few weeks ago that I got to meet in person while I was visiting family in Toronto. I’ve never seen a baby so young before up close and it was magical, looking forward to seeing her grow up close. 😊

Thank you to everyone who supported my journey these past few years. I’m grateful for all of you in this community who have been there for the ride. Wishing you all a wonderful 2022!

What are your 3 biggest wins this year? Let me know in the comments below. 👇🏼

I posted my first YouTube video on January 20th, 2019 (2 years + 4 months ago). I remember how stupid I felt taking out my phone and just recording myself talk alone in my basement.

My mom looked at me a few times and was like what are you doing in the basement??? Fun times explaining what I was doing to her lol (she's probably my biggest supporter now though haha).

I started MasterTalk, really to just share some public speaking tips I had learned coaching a lot my university friends for a business competition I used to help run and it's kind of crazy that the YouTube channel hit 10,000 subscribers today.

I just wanted to make this post to inspire a few of you who have some crazy ideas to just go for it. I was literally a 22 year old kid recording with a phone, never edited a single video for the first year and was able to achieve this milestone.

Go after it, we have one life anyways, so spend it doing something you truly want to be working on.

Thanks to everyone who supported me on this journey. I couldn't have done it without the 100's of people who generously shared my content and helped me push it to the level it is today.

More to come.

Much love everyone,
Brenden

HOW TO ORGANIZE A 🗣️ TALK.

Want to know the secret to organize the perfect talk?

The short answer is that there is NO secret here, just practice. All of the best speakers on the planet have practised one presentation 100's of times. Period.

The only way to know how to present the perfect talk is to try different way of presenting the same idea, otherwise known as a brain dump.

It took me 100's of tries to communicate the way that I do, and I hope you put in that time to get your ideas heard as well.

WHY DISCIPLINE 💨 MATTERS.

You probably won't believe me, but I did martial arts for 6 YEARS from the ages of 12 to 18.

That experience helped me so much with public speaking and communication because having a consistent practice schedule is key to be being successful.

If you want to get better at anything, you need to practice even on days you don't want to, that's what separates the best from the rest, so find ways to develop that discipline.

HOW TO KNOW IF SOMEONE IS 🤓 SMART.

Everyone says it and it’s worth repeating; surrounding yourself with people who are better than you will just make you better, period. But, the challenge becomes, how do you figure out if someone is smart or not?

That’s one I’ve asked myself for a long time and I’ll give you my thoughts on this.

All of the geniuses I’ve met in my life share one thing in common: an understanding that they know nothing. What do I mean here?

Anyone who’s really smart understands that they can’t possibly know everything in the Universe, there’s too much knowledge in the world to know even a small fraction of it.

This attitude forces them to ask more questions than give answers, to seek understanding rather than approval, to find the truth instead of assuming they already have it.

Generally speaking, even if smart people might have strong opinions about certain topics, in general, those opinions are in small number.

How can you possibly be absolutely right about every single topic in the world?

Peter Thiel, I find is a great example of one such person where, before he ever gives an opinion, he explains each side and why they all believe what they do and goes on to explain his points, which is very fascinating and frankly unique.

Most people out there aren’t willing to hear the other side, use emotions to make decisions or pretend that they’re the expert on everything.

Avoid these types of people (or better yet), try to understand how they think and avoid the pitfalls that they make in their thinking patterns.

Let me know in the comments what you think about this and what qualities the smartest people you’ve ever met have.

HOW TO PRESENT ON A 👎 BAD DAY.

The key to presenting on a day you're not feeling like it is taking responsibility for your audience and letting your passion handle the rest, simple as that!

There are people who made the decision to show up and it's your duty to make sure it's a good use of their time whether it's a classroom presentation or a workshop.

Take responsibility and let your passion handle the rest.

WHY I STILL LIVE 🏘️ WITH MY MOTHER.

I wanted to make this post to give you another perspective not many people talk about (especially if you actually love your parents).

Tim Urban, founder of the Wait But Why blog, talked about this idea that over 90% of the total time you’ll be able to spend with your parents is already over by the age of 18 (or whenever you decide to leave the house).

Why? Because the number of days you’ll see your parents drops to a few weeks a year to even a few days if you left the country to live some place else when it used to be everyday.

I also realized that a lot of people who were in their late 20’s, 30’s and 40’s have seen at least one of their parents die (my father passed away when I was 22).

This is the point I’m driving.

Don’t just make decisions because everyone else wants you to make them. Make choices that make the most sense to YOU, and for ME, it was spending time with my mother and sister while I grind out MasterTalk, rather than spending money to rent a place to live alone in.

What makes the most sense to you?

HOW TO PRESENT IN GROUPS.

The key is to leverage strengths to win. If you want to be the best as a team, it's your job to figure out what you're good at and more importantly, what you need to work on.

The key is simple, as long as you play to each other's strengths and know how to use them, you'll always come up on top.
