Grade 2(1) with Ms Danica collaboratively brainstormed their ideas in response to the question, 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭? Drawing from their previous learning experiences, such as the observation walk and informative reading activities, they identified and discussed the many uses of water in our daily lives. 💧✨
This activity demonstrated their growing understanding of the concept of connection, as they made meaningful links between their experiences, observations, and new knowledge. Students also worked on their 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 by sharing ideas, listening to others, and working together respectfully. 🤝😊

Grade 1(1) students had an exciting opportunity to put their learning into action as parents joined us to build 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and explore energy 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭. ⚙️✨
The room was filled with 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐦, 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲, and 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 as students shared their thinking and communicated their ideas with confidence. It was wonderful to see families 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦-𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠, and 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 together while bringing theory to life in such a fun and meaningful way. 📚✨

Grade 10 students explored the fascinating world of chemiluminescence through a 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 investigating how different catalysts affect light production. Using a luminol solution, students tested four catalysts — manganese dioxide, copper sulphate, blood cake, and bleach — to discover which reaction would produce the brightest glow and which would last the longest. 🔬🌟
As the solutions lit up in glowing shades of blue, students observed how chemical reactions can generate light without heat, directly connecting the activity to their lesson on sources of light. The experiment encouraged critical thinking, careful observation, and a bit of friendly competition as students compared the intensity and duration of each glowing reaction. 💡🌍
Throughout the activity, students developed important IB ATL skills, including 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 through data analysis and evaluation of results, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 through scientific investigation and observation, communication skills through group discussions and sharing findings, and 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 by following lab procedures safely and responsibly. 📚🤝

Students explored the different layers of the ocean, discussing the animals that live within each layer and how ocean environments can look and feel different.
Using a variety of creative materials, students designed their own ocean dioramas, painting the ocean in different shades of blue to represent the layer they chose. 🌎💙
They also drew and traced ocean animals onto clear sheets before continuing to bring their habitats to life this week by creating coral, seaweed, sea urchins, and a variety of ocean creatures. 🐙🐟🐡
Through this collaborative art inquiry, students developed their understanding of the connections between animals and their environments while strengthening 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠.

In the Library, an exhibition of work created across the elementary classes promoted a range of independent student art projects. In the Montreal Cafe, each class submitted a set of work that they were proud to have created this year. and to top things off Grade 6 student Austin performed a special DJ set outside the art house for students and families. 🎵💿
This was a great opportunity to both reflect on students' hard work and share ideas across age groups, inspiring everyone to create new forms of art. 🌈💡
