Than Phu Ying Sirikitiya Mai Jensen joined us on Monday December 8 2025 at the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University for her public talk ‘Glass Plate Negatives: Circles of Centres.’ She offered a thoughtful look into the layers of history, memory, and personal connection embedded within archival photographs. One moment that stood out was her idea of the ‘food ghost,’ a term that sparked conversations about how food can carry traces of experiences, people, and places across time. Her perspective encouraged students to see food culture not only as something we taste, but as something we can inherit and interpret.
The lecture was organized by AA Visiting School Bangkok, with participants from the University of Melbourne.

Chef Chalee Kader joined us on Monday December 8 2025 at the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University for his public talk ‘Plate to Page: Exploring the Narrative Power of Food.’ Chalee brought his humorous charm to the room as he spoke about the craft of Thai cuisine, the value of local ingredients, and the stories that shape each dish. What stayed with many of us was his openness in sharing what he called his ‘spectacular failures,’ reminding students that creativity grows from the courage to try, experiment, and begin again.

Cloud-floor joined us on Monday December 8 2025 at the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University for their public talk ‘Dine-a-logue.’ Through their research project exploring the evolution of how dining furniture shaped and was shaped by customs, expectations and desires across different cultures and geographies, they brought to our attention the ways in which people, places, objects and local narratives are connected. Their interdisciplinary approach, blending spatial design, community engagement, and geo-based research, offered students a unique perspective to explore food, space, and everyday urban life in Bangkok.
