APICS OMBOK Framework 59 Once items are shipped through the distribution network, inventory is replenished. This is especially true for make-to-stock situations. (See section 4.2.2.) Several models are available to help determine how much inventory should be brought in to restock the products or parts.

My Ph.D. Research Cycle : Our PhD research cycle, as shown in picture, thus applies to both paradigms by (1) investigating a problem, (2) building a solution, e.g. a BPMM (Business Process Maturity Model) classification or artefact, based on existing knowledge and by specifying and validating candidate solutions before choosing one, (3) testing the solution with real-life data, and (4) evaluating its implementation, resulting in new knowledge. Interplay between theory and practice is supported to assure relevance to the business environment, and rigour by relying on academic knowledge throughout the cycle.
