🌟 LigniTech (Lignin Technology Research Group), together with the School of Bioresources and Technology, KMUTT, proudly congratulates Assist. Prof. Dr. Paripok Phitsuwan on achieving the status of Fellow (FHEA) from Advance HE.

This recognition confirms his attainment against the Professional Standards Framework for teaching and supporting learning in higher education. The framework supports professional, inclusive, evidence-based, and continually improving educational practice, helping strengthen teaching quality and the learning experience of students.

Beyond individual recognition, this achievement reflects a commitment to creating wider societal impact. High-quality education develops capable graduates, researchers, innovators, and future leaders who can apply knowledge to real-world challenges, work with communities and industries, and generate benefits for society.

From an SROI—Social Return on Investment—perspective, the value of education extends beyond academic achievement. Its social returns may include improved skills and employability, greater access to opportunities, stronger community capacity, responsible innovation, and the translation of research into solutions that enhance economic, environmental, and social well-being. Educational SROI therefore considers the broader value created for students, institutions, partners, communities, and society.

Dr. Paripok’s recognition strengthens the mission of LigniTech, SBT, and KMUTT to connect teaching, research, and innovation with sustainable development. It also reinforces the importance of educating students who can transform scientific knowledge into meaningful outcomes for industry, communities, the environment, and future generations.

💛 May this achievement inspire continued excellence and create even greater social value through education, research, innovation, and knowledge transfer.

🎉🔬 A New Research Publication from LigniTech! 🌱🧬

LigniTech, School of Bioresources and Technology, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), proudly congratulates Ms. Kanlaya Thaatha, our M.Sc. student, on the successful publication of her research article:

📖 “Comparison of holocellulolytic profiles of Phanerochaete chrysosporium ATCC 201542 and Fusarium sp. PSA-3 induced by different plant biomasses”
📰 Published in The Microbe
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2950194626001093?via%3Dihub

🌾🍄 Research significance
This study provides deeper insights into the enzymatic profiles and lifestyle of the plant-pathogenic fungus Fusarium sp. PSA-3 and its interactions with different lignocellulosic biomasses. Its responses were compared with those of Phanerochaete chrysosporium ATCC 201542, a well-known plant-biomass-degrading fungus.

The findings reveal how fungal enzyme production, adaptation, and resilience are influenced by the growth substrate, particularly in plant pathogenic fungi. This fundamental knowledge advances our understanding of fungus–plant biomass interactions and may contribute to the future development of biocontrol agents and sustainable strategies for preventing diseases in economically important crops. 🌱🛡️

🎓 Scholarship and academic support
Kanlaya conducted this research with support from the Petchra Pra Jom Kloa M.Sc. Research Scholarship, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand.

The project was undertaken under the supervision and academic support of:

🔹 Assist. Prof. Lakha Salaipeth, Head of the Biodiversity Laboratory, SBT
🔹 Dr. Saengchai Akeprathumchai
🔹 Prof. Navadol Laosiripojana, JGSEE
🔹 Assist. Prof. Paripok Phitsuwan

The research also benefited from strong international collaboration with Prof. Takashi Watanabe, Kyoto University, Japan. 🇹🇭🤝🇯🇵

🌏 International research collaboration
This work was conducted through collaboration supported by the JASTIP-Net 2022 and 2023 Program, sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the JAPAN–ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Platform (JASTIP).
