เริ่มที่เครื่องมือเป็นอันดับแรกครับ เครื่องมือช่างไม้แบบแฮนด์ทูล (Hand Tools) มีมากมายหลายประเภทเลยครับ แต่ละชิ้นก็มีหน้าที่แตกต่างกันไป ตัวอย่างที่พบบ่อยๆ ก็เช่น
เลื่อย (Saws): ใช้สำหรับตัดไม้ มีหลายแบบ เช่น เลื่อยลันดา (Hand Saw), เลื่อยฉลุ (Coping Saw), เลื่อยตัดองศา (Miter Saw)
ค้อน (Hammers): ใช้สำหรับตอกตะปู มีหลายแบบ เช่น ค้อนหงอน (Claw Hammer), ค้อนหัวกลม (Ball-peen Hammer)
สิ่ว (Chisels): ใช้สำหรับเซาะร่องไม้ แกะสลัก หรือปรับแต่งเนื้อไม้
กบไสไม้ (Planes): ใช้สำหรับปรับหน้าไม้ให้เรียบเสมอกัน มีทั้งกบมือ (Hand Plane) และกบไฟฟ้า (Electric Plane)
ไขควง (Screwdrivers): ใช้สำหรับขันหรือคลายสกรู มีทั้งแบบปากแฉก ปากแบน และอื่นๆ
ตลับเมตร (Tape Measures): ใช้สำหรับวัดขนาดความยาว
ฉาก (Squares): ใช้สำหรับตีเส้นหรือวัดมุมฉาก
ระดับน้ำ (Levels): ใช้สำหรับตรวจสอบความระนาบหรือแนวตั้ง
คีม (Pliers): ใช้สำหรับจับ ดัด หรือตัดชิ้นงาน มีหลายแบบ เช่น คีมปากจระเข้ คีมตัด
มีดคัตเตอร์/มีดกรีด (Utility Knives): ใช้สำหรับกรีด ตัดวัสดุต่างๆ
