Our Reception Fairytale Ball was a truly special day filled with imagination and magical moments.

Students arrived dressed as princes, princesses, and favourite fairytale characters before spending the day enjoying themed activities with their classmates. As the celebrations unfolded, children came together to share snacks and cupcakes before making their way to the Sports Hall for an afternoon of music and dancing.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing our teachers fully embrace the occasion by dressing up alongside the children, helping to create an atmosphere that felt straight out of a storybook.

There is something wonderful about seeing a whole community come together to create moments like these. The smiles on the children's faces said it all.

We are delighted to celebrate the success of two Wellington College Bangkok teams who have once again been recognised in the Global Social Leaders Competition.

The Global Social Leaders programme challenges students to look beyond the classroom, identify issues within society, and take meaningful action to create positive change. Since November 2025, our students have dedicated their time and energy to projects that have made a real difference in their communities.

Our Year 9 team, Everwear, focused on sustainability through initiatives that encouraged recycling and the repurposing of second-hand clothing. Meanwhile, our Year 11 team, Youthtopia, worked to reduce inequality in education by volunteering their time to teach children from disadvantaged backgrounds and creating opportunities for younger learners.

What makes this achievement so special is not simply the awards themselves, but the commitment shown by our students over many months. Through their actions, they have demonstrated that young people can make a meaningful impact when they care deeply about a cause and are willing to take action.

Congratulations to both teams on this well-deserved recognition. We are incredibly proud of the difference they have made.

Last week, our Year 10 students stepped out of the classroom and into the heart of rural Thailand with a visit to Baan Kru Thani.

Throughout the day, students explored traditional Thai agriculture and gained firsthand experience of how rice is grown and processed. They visited rice fields, learned about the journey from paddy to plate, and even had the opportunity to make their own kanom krok, a much-loved Thai dessert.

The trip also offered plenty of opportunities for students to immerse themselves in local life. From rowing boats and meeting water buffalo to trying their hand at fishing and cooling off with water slides, the day was filled with memorable experiences and plenty of laughter.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with Thai culture in a meaningful way while enjoying an adventure they will not soon forget.

Last Thursday, our Theatre came alive with the magic of the movies as students performed in Orchestra Night: A Night at the Movies.

The evening gave our musicians the opportunity to share their work with families, friends, and staff through a programme inspired by some of the most iconic film soundtracks. It was wonderful to watch students perform with such confidence and see the enjoyment they brought to the stage.

While the spotlight was on our talented performers, the concert was also a reflection of the dedication that has gone into rehearsals throughout the year. Thank you to our music teachers for their guidance and support in helping students grow as musicians and performers.

A memorable evening that celebrated music and the strength of our performing arts community.

Last week, our Woodpecker class enjoyed a very special Mystery Reader session that brought a classic fairytale to life.

Three of our parents transformed into Snow White, the Evil Queen, and a Dwarf to act out the story as they read, turning a familiar tale into an unforgettable experience for the children. Students were completely captivated as the characters came to life in front of them, filling the classroom with excitement and plenty of smiles.

A huge thank you to our parent volunteers for their enthusiasm and creativity. It was a wonderful example of how our parent community helps bring learning to life for our students.

As part of STEAM Week, Year 5 students took on the challenge of designing and creating shoes using cardboard and recycled materials.

The project encouraged students to think like designers and engineers, considering how a shoe should function while exploring creative ways to construct it from everyday materials. Throughout the process, students tested ideas, adapted their designs, and worked through challenges as their creations began to take shape.

It was fantastic to see so much creativity on display as students discovered how innovation can emerge from the simplest materials.

The competitive spirit was on full display this week as students from Years 7 and 8, along with Years 9 and 10, took part in the House Dodgeball competition.

Representing their Houses with pride, students threw themselves into every match, creating a fantastic atmosphere filled with energy and excitement. While the competition was fiercely contested, it was equally wonderful to see so many smiles on the court as students enjoyed the experience and cheered on their teammates.

A brilliant example of House spirit in action and a reminder that some of the best moments come from competing together.

As part of their end-of-year activities, Year 6 students had the opportunity to design and create their own commemorative mugs.

From developing their initial concepts to transferring their artwork onto the final mugs, students were involved in every stage of the process. Each design reflected individual interests, memories, and experiences, resulting in a collection of unique pieces that captured their personalities and creativity.

These mugs are more than just a creative project. They are a meaningful memento of students' time in Junior School and a reminder of the memories they have made before beginning their next chapter in Senior School.

Year 5 students enjoyed a fantastic reading session in their learning studio, each choosing a book that sparked their curiosity.

Some students immersed themselves in gripping novels, while others explored fascinating historical topics, discovered new recipes through cookbooks, or got lost in the pages of comics and fantasy stories. It was wonderful to see such a wide range of interests reflected across the room.

As the session unfolded, students settled into their books and let the stories take over. Whether learning something new or escaping into an imaginary world, reading gave every student the chance to follow their own interests and enjoy a moment of quiet discovery.

There is something special about seeing a room full of children completely absorbed in a good book.
