โปรตีนสกัดจากระบบภูมิคุ้มกันของฉลาม (sharks) เรียกว่า VNARs สามารถป้องกันไวรัส covid-19 รวมถึงสายพันธุ์ที่กลายพันธุ์และ coronavirus ชนิดอื่นที่สามารถติดต่อได้ในมนุษย์
