โครงการไทยศึกษา วิทยาลัยนานาชาติปรีดี พนมยงค์ ขอเชิญชวนผู้ที่สนใจเข้าร่วมการสัมนาในหัวข้อ “ระบอบนิติฟอร์ม: ตัวอย่างของข้อยกเว้นที่กลายกิจวัตรในกระบวนการยุติธรรมของไทย” โดยศาตราจารย์กิตติคุณ ดร. ธงชัย วินิจจะกูล
Visiting Professor ณ วิทยาลัยนานาชาติปรีดี พนมยงค์ และนักประวัติศาสตร์ผู้ทรงอิทธิพลของไทย

การสัมนาในครั้งนี้เกี่ยวข้องกับ "กุญแจเท้าของผู้ต้องขัง" ซึ่งได้กลายเป็น “ตรวนสมัยใหม่” ที่ผู้ต้องขังชายที่ไปศาลแทบทุกคนต้องสวมใส่ สิ่งนี้ได้กลายเป็นสิ่งปกติไปแล้วทั้ง ๆ ที่กฎหมายห้ามไว้ นี่เป็นผลของการทำให้ข้อยกเว้นในกฎหมายกลายเป็นกิจวัตรถึงขนาดมีแบบฟอร์มให้กรอกโดยไม่ต้องคิด กรณีนี้เป็นตัวอย่างชัดเจนที่ข้อยกเว้นตามกฎหมายกลายเป็นการปฏิบัติปกติในกระบวนการยุติธรรมของไทย รวมทั้งในห้องพิจารณาคดีด้วย

Thai Studies Seminar Series Semester 2/2025

The Thai Studies Program, PBIC, Thammasat, invites the public to attend a seminar titled:

“Rule of Form: An Example of the Normalization of Exceptions in Thailand’s Justice System”

Speaker: Professor Emeritus Dr. Thongchai Winichakul Visiting Professor at PBIC and a leading Thai historian.

The shackles on prisoners’ ankles become a normal practice, thanks to the normalization of exceptions in the Corrections Act. It is a vivid example of similar phenomena in Thai justice system that the normalized legal exceptions have been pervasive including in the courtrooms.

The lecture will be conducted in Thai.

A Transnational Revolutionary Movement in a Noncolonised Space

Join us for a lecture by Dr. Joel Littler, a transnational cultural and intellectual historian of Japan.

Dr. Littler will explore the story of Miyazaki Tōten (1871–1922), a young Japanese revolutionary who led a utopian farming movement in Siam. This lecture will show how Miyazaki used Siam to imagine and experiment with future ways of living grounded in transnational cooperation and revolution.

ในการสัมมนาครั้งนี้ Dr. Joel Littler จะพาเราไปทำความรู้จักนักปฏิวัติหนุ่มชาวญี่ปุ่น มิยาซากิ โทเทน (พ.ศ. 2414–2465) ผู้เคยนำชาวญี่ปุ่นจำนวนหนึ่งมาสร้างชุมชนเกษตรยูโทเปียในสยาม การบรรยายนี้จะแสดงให้เห็นว่ามิยาซากิใช้สยามเป็นพื้นที่สำหรับจินตนาการถึงโลกในอุดมคติและทดลองใช้ชีวิตในโลกดังกล่าวอย่างไร โดยความพยายามนี้ตั้งอยู่บนพื้นฐานของความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศและการปฏิวัติข้ามชาติ
