Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Graduate Program at KMUTT

We are proudly to announce that Asst. Prof. Paskorn Muangphrom, a lecturer at our program, has been invited to be a speaker at Bangkok Scientifique on the topic of “DNAzyme Revolution: When DNA becomes a molecular detective”.

Congratulations to Ms. Natacha Mitwae, Mr. Teerapat Panprasert, and Ms. Panpakorn Kamolnantin from Darunsikkhalai School, Engineering-Science Classroom for the great achievement receiving Junior Young Rising Stars of Science Award 2025.

All three students have been supervised by Asst. Prof. Paskorn Muangphrom, a lecturer in our program, and Dr. Kamonchanok Poolsawat, Darunsikkhalai School.

Their work entitled "Development of PDA-based sensor for the detection of biogenic amine" was presented at the 51st International Congress on Science, Technology and Technology-based Innovation (STT51), organized by the Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King during 11-13 November, 2025 at the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University.

Congratulations to Asst. Prof. Paskorn Muangphrom and Sensor Technology Lab at KMUTT for their publication entitled "Simple one-pot assay for visual and smartphone-based quantification of human albumin in urine and biological fluids" in Talanta (Q1, Impact Factor 5.6).

This work presents a simple and rapid one-pot assay to detect human albumin, a sign of kidney dysfunction. The sensor platform is compatible with broad range of biological fluid sample including urine, serum, and sweat, and the signal is visualizable by naked eye within 15 minutes. Quantification analysis of human albumin level is also possible by smartphone and scanner without any requirement of complex equipment. The reported detection limit of this sensor is far lower than the human albumin level of early sign of kidney dysfunction. This capability together with simple usage clearly indicate the potential of this sensor to be used for a risk of kidney failure disease diagnosis, particularly, for patients living in the resource-limited areas.

Asst. Prof. Paskorn Muangphrom has been invited to be an Inviting Academic Staff and gave a lecture entitled “DNAzyme-based Biosensors Technology: What we are doing and its prospect” at Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Osaka on 27 May, 2025. This year is the fifth consecutive year that Asst. Prof. Paskorn has received this honored invitation.

This lecture is a part of ESP Biotechnology B course for Master course program in Biotechnology of Graduate School of Engineering. This course provides the “alumni’s lecture” class to enlighten the current students on how they can apply their knowledge in real-world situation and career based on the alumni’s experiences. It also boosts a potential collaboration between the current staffs at the University of Osaka and the alumni as well.

Thank you very much to the University of Osaka for continuing invitation and Asst. Prof. Paskorn for continuing collaboration with Japanese partners.
