🇹🇭🇨🇳 HubSustainMat Welcomes Researchers from Chinese Academy of Sciences to Chula!

Hub of Talents: Sustainable Materials for Circular Economy (HubSustainMat) welcomed academics from the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, led by Professor Chunshan Li, Vice President of IPE, to The Petroleum and Petrochemical College (PPC), Chulalongkorn University, on November 11, 2025. The visit was part of the post-conference activities of The First Asia Pacific Conference on Green Chemical Engineering & Sustainability (APAC Green & Sustain 2025).

During the visit, the research tour was led by Dr. Bhumin Than-ardna, HubSustainMat member and PPC lecturer, with support from PPC students. The team guided Prof. Li together with IPE professors and students through PPC’s advanced research units and high-tech laboratory facilities, which feature specialized research capabilities in sustainable materials and carbon capture.

Both parties also discussed opportunities for future collaboration, including researcher exchanges and joint high-level research such as scaling-up projects. The discussions mark a promising step toward strengthening global partnerships and advancing research in sustainable materials for circular economy.

📸Highlights from 1st APAC Green & Sustain 2025, 9–12 November, Bangkok ✨

The First Asia Pacific Conference on Green Chemical Engineering & Sustainability (APAC Green & Sustain 2025) successfully took place from 9–12 November 2025 at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok. The conference was co-organized by the Center of Excellence on Petrochemical and Materials Technology, Chulalongkorn University; Mahanakorn University of Technology (MUT); and the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, with support from the Hub of Talents: Sustainable Materials for Circular Economy (HubSustainMat) under the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).

The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr. Pornanong Aramwit, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University. Welcome remarks were delivered by Prof. Hathaikarn Manuspiya, Chairman of APAC Green & Sustain 2025; Prof. Chunshan Li, Vice President of IPE; and Asst. Prof. Porntep Puangprakhon, Vice President of MUT. Congratulatory messages were also shared by Prof. Suojiang Zhang of IPE and Dr. Wiparat Dee-ong, Executive Director of NRCT. The conference welcomed 126 participants from academia and industry across the Asia–Pacific region.

Over four days, the program featured plenary, keynote, and invited lectures by distinguished experts, alongside oral and poster presentations spanning a wide range of topics in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering — including Green Catalysts & Materials, Green Reaction Engineering, Green Separation Process, New Energy & Materials, and Carbon Neutrality & Sustainability. The event concluded with an award ceremony recognizing outstanding presentations, followed by the handover of the conference plaque to Prof. Chunshan Li, representing IPE as next year’s host.

Held under the theme “Greenovations in Chemical Engineering toward Global Sustainability,” APAC Green & Sustain 2025 showcased the region’s growing momentum in green technologies and strengthened collaborative research efforts driving sustainable innovations.
