As part of the Grade 10 Interdisciplinary Unit, the students had a hands-on activity to check the vital signs and wellness of our Roong Aroon International School teachers and staff. The grade 10 students took their blood pressure using an aneroid sphygmomanometer and guided by a stethoscope. They also took their body temperature using a non digital thermometer, took their breathing rate, pulse rate, oxygen saturation level and weight.
They’ve also used the wellness wheel chart to rate the different areas of their life by scale of 1 least satisfied to 10 most satisfied, such as the emotional, social, physical, recreational, spiritual, environment and mental.

As part of a Grade 9 biological science lesson, students learned about internal body systems by dissecting a pig's heart for a better understanding and visualization of the four chambers of the heart, its different parts and how these parts make the transport of blood possible. The students were able to identify and explain the different parts of the heart and the valves by observing the different thicknesses of the heart muscles.

Also, they were able to examining how unoxygenated blood becomes oxygenated and how blood is transported to the rest of the body. This science lesson was an exciting, engaging and informative experience for our students!

In home room activities, Phra Khru Ekawee Mahayano introduced the concept of self-awareness or mindfulness to our students.

The teaching can be found mainly in Buddhism, but it is not restricted to any religion. The tool to investigate the functioning of our own mind is crucial for anyone wishing to have a peaceful life. In this session, we discussed how we are usually driven by our automatic thought patterns from the past and how this impacts our future. If unaware of this process, we become a slave of our automatic mind reactions. If we learn to be aware of this, it is the starting point of freedom from our internal disturbances.

The practice of walking meditation helps bring the mind back to the present moment and become free from these automatic thought patters. However, it is not a sudden accomplishment. It is an exercise in training the mind. Becoming mindful as often as possible will transform the individual as a whole.

Halloween festival at our school was celebrated with fun-filled and anxiety-spooky treats, beginning with a horrifying costume fashion show, the classroom nightmare design, trick-or-treating, ghost stories, and Halloween cafe.

Families and students are invited to participate in the charity event, “Sapanboon To Help Flood Relief” this Friday, October 21st, from 13:30 -17:00 at the Arts Workshop area.

Organizes by Roong Aroon’s Matthayom School, the charity event aims to raise funds and donations to help those local people who have been affected by the flood disaster zones in Ubon Ratchathani province. The collection of charitable funds and gifts will be donated to three different organizations; Nammitr Flood Relief Center, Faculty of Arts, Ubon Ratchathani University, Dhamma Group at Baan Rachathan-Asoke in Warin Chamrab district, and Tung Sima Wittaya School in Utumpornpisai district, Srisaket province.

To encourage our students to get into the Halloween spirit by reading spooky stories, our amazing librarian, Mrs. Debi, created an amazing book display made from recycled materials! Great work teacher Debi!

In Physical Education class, our grade 8 students went boating on the serene Roong Aroon lake. The students were trained in water safety and paddling techniques. It was a very exciting, fun and physically challenging class for our students!

In remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (King Rama IX) for his memorial day, October 13, 2022, Roong Aroon International School executives, teachers, students, and staff held a one-minute silence to pay their respect to the beloved King.

Today’s ceremony in memory of King Rama IX was heartfelt and gentle. It was a gentle reminder of the vision King Rama IX had for the future well-being of Thailand, and not just a reminder to recycle and reduce waste. The philosophy inherent in the daily life of Roong Aroon International School is closely tied to the King’s vision of caring for ourselves and each other by caring for our environment.

In order to achieve harmony and peace within ourselves and our school, we need to nurture our environment through thoughtful behaviors. The messages to reduce waste and recycle wherever possible is in keeping with the mission of the country we all call home. In a way, our school works to continue the teachings of King Rama 9’ s vision that we should care for each other and our environment through self-sustaining habits. Today’s ceremony in honor of King Rama IX was a tender reminder to strive for a balance of harmony between our actions and our hearts.
